FSU welcomes back 41 members of the 1971 FSU Football Team. Over their careers these seminoles combined a precision passing attack with tough defense to lead FSU to win over Clemson, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, Louisville, and 3 consecutive wins over the Miami Hurricanes. They were also our first Seminole football team to include African-American teammates. In 1971, they earned the invitation to play in the inaugural Fiesta Bowl. Let’s meet the 1971 Seminoles:

“Another tough loss for the Seminoles today. That is the story of our season right now. Almost is not good enough so we have to keep growing from almost to getting it done! I still believe we can have a productive season if we play like we did on offense & defense in the 2nd half. We are close but close is not good enough rn but I know Coach Norvell, the staff, and the players will keep chopping wood until the “W” tree falls.

As I sit and wonder how close we are to getting over the hump, it comes down to 3 out of the 4 losses are one-possession games at the end. 🤔 Let’s keep supporting the positive progress. The wins aren’t happening right now but I believe they will and it will start next week!”

"The only way is up from here! I still believe it will happen for them when we all come together. We ask the coaches and the team to be better and we as supporters are on the fence. We have to support any progress and be critical but not disrespectful. The coaches and players are working each day and they have a plan going into each game that they look to execute. However, they haven't been able to finish any of the 3 games on the winning side. Everyone has an opinion about what is going on and I hope we can all agree that the team is not playing to their capabilities and guess who else feels that way... yes the players and coaches so we are all hurting at this point. 1 Cor 12 talks about the body being one part and the hand can't say to the foot you aren't useful so we as supporters have to come and encourage the team even when things don't look good just as we would if they were 3-0! We are one body (Seminole Nation). The players and the coaches need us at this time so let's not abandon them when they are struggling! Go Noles!"

Former FSU basketball player and current NBA assistant Luke Loucks is an assistant on the Nigeria basketball team that beat Team USA. He traveling to Tokyo this week for the Olympics.
