🌟 Girls Can Do Anything! Camp - Weeks 1 & 2 Highlights 🌟

We are off to an incredible start to summer with our Girls Can Do Anything! Camp! Over the first two weeks, our campers have been stepping into new experiences, building confidence, and strengthening connections through hands-on learning, movement, and community engagement.

🐾 Week 1: Girls and Animal Adventures! Highlights:
Campers explored animal and nature experiences through horseback riding, grooming horses at Mahan Farms, along with animal encounters at North Florida Wildlife. They also enjoyed a fun-filled pool day and participated in a visit with TMH Animal Therapy, where they learned about empathy, emotional regulation, and caring for animals and others.

🚑 Week 2: Girls to the Rescue! Highlights:
Our campers explored what it means to be helpers in their community. They visited the Fat Cat Café and a local animal shelter, plus a special Q&A session with Commissioner Jack Porter. Guest speakers from Leon County EMS and the FDLE Crime Scene Unit gave campers an inside look at public safety careers and how first responders serve and protect our community.

We are so proud of the way our girls are showing up each day—trying new things, building friendships, asking thoughtful questions, and discovering that they truly can do anything. 💛

More summer adventures ahead!

✨JOIN TALLAHASSEE WOMAN MAGAZINE IN CELEBRATING 20 YEARS THIS AMAZING COVER WOMAN BECKY SAUERS ✨

As part of our 20th Anniversary celebration, Tallahassee Woman Magazine is honored to spotlight the incredible women who have graced our covers since 2006.

For two decades, Tallahassee Woman Magazine has proudly served as Tallahassee’s only locally owned women’s magazine—and the only printed magazine in our city dedicated to women and those who support women. Created by women, for women, and about women, TWM has had the privilege of sharing the stories, accomplishments, leadership, and impact of remarkable women throughout our community.

This celebration honors the women who have inspired us, led with courage, built businesses, served our community, lifted others up, and helped shape Tallahassee in meaningful ways. Every cover tells a story—and together, these women represent 20 years of strength, vision, resilience, and empowerment.

We are closed tomorrow, Wednesday, May 20, 2026 in honor of Florida's Emancipation Day!

Emancipation was proclaimed in Tallahassee-Leon County on May 20, 1865, 11 days after the end of the Civil War and two years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation freed those enslaved in Southern states. The Proclamation was read by Union General McCook from the steps of the Knott House Museum, effectively ending slavery in the state of Florida.

DYK?: Leon County was the first County in Florida to officially recognize Florida's Emancipation Day as a County holiday in 2020 with an unanimous vote by the Leon County Government Board of County Commissioners.
