The Miami Loop Summit 2026 brought together residents, community stakeholders, elected officials, and trail partners to discuss the future of Miami-Dade County’s connected trail network.

The Miami Loop is a planned network of more than 200 miles of trails and greenways designed to connect communities throughout Miami-Dade County. The summit highlighted progress on existing and developing trail projects, opportunities to close gaps between individual trails, and next steps toward creating a more connected network.

Through presentations, breakout discussions, and community input, participants explored opportunities to strengthen regional connectivity, expand walking and cycling options, and enhance access to safe, multimodal transportation throughout Miami-Dade County.

Miami-Dade TPO was represented by Kevin C. Walford, Transit & Regional Manager, Alexandra “Ally” Scroggin, Mobility Planner 1, and Jesus Fuentes, P.E., In-House Consultant.

From Charles Hines - Some Happy Friday Florida Gulf Coast Trail News:
Proud to have represented the Trust for Public Land and the Florida Gulf Coast Trail at the North River Road ribbon cutting in Sarasota County this morning, hosted by the Governor’s Office and FDOT. With today’s official ribbon cutting, the completed Florida Gulf Coast Trail has grown by another 5 miles!
In 2022, the Office of Greenways and Trails, following recommendations from Trust for Public Land and our trail partners, rerouted the Florida Gulf Coast Trail along River Road to coincide with the FDOT road expansion project. This new trail segment will connect many new communities and provide their residents access to multiple parks, preserves, and the wild and scenic Myakka River. With this opening, we can now turn our attention to what’s next: the construction of South River Road, which will connect the Trail to Charlotte County, as well as the connection to Warm Mineral Springs in North Port. Good to see Trail champions Rep. James Buchanan and Commissioner Phil Stokes.
