Hello Friends, June 2026


Our Saturday meetings in June will be on June 6 and June 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We usually break for lunch around noon (bring your own) and have show-and-tell then, too. Stay for an hour or two or stay for the entire session.

We meet at St. Stephan Lutheran Church located at 2198 N. Meridian Rd., Tallahassee.

And don’t forget, we have a wide variety of material in the closet – pre-cut squares, partial “kits” of matching fabrics, “1 yardish” fabrics in the big shelves, “more than 2 yards” fabrics in the white shelving, and much fabric in boxes still waiting to be discovered by the closet maven. We encourage you to come and get what you need for your charity projects. No need to purchase fabric for any of your donation children’s quilts!

Peggy from Rags2Bags reached out to us with the message that they meet every Tuesday (10-2) and Thursday (12:30-3:30) in the Faith Presbyterian Church Community Outreach Center across the parking lot from the Faith Presbyterian office. They would love to accept any and all material/fabric that SFH is not in a position to accept at this time. The church office will accept any donations whenever it is open.

P. S. A plea from the S4H closet maven:
Please do NOT BRING ANY NEW MATERIAL OR BATTING DONATIONS into our closet until we get ahead of the overload we currently have.
Other places to take fabric/batting:
Senior Center, 7th and Monroe, - quilting group uses donations. Take to the main lobby in bag or box and give to the receptionist
Rags2Bags – makes shopping bags from donated fabric. To donate, please call or email first to (850) 597-9836, or [email protected].
A Bag for Hope - items used to make tote bags, wine bags, gift bags, craft bags and other fabric items to sell; the proceeds are donated fund the HOPE Community. Contact at [email protected]

At today’s meeting, we took in three quilts and one nap blanket. Hope to see you at our next meeting, April 18. Bring your machine, your lunch and your charity project.

We collected three finished quilts at Saturday’s meeting. Our numbers were few (probably because of spring break), but everyone who came was busy piecing, cutting, pressing or organizing. Thanks to you all! See you next month.

MESSAGE FROM YOUR CLOSET MAVEN:
Thinking about a new quilt? Think scrappy! Our closet is packed with scraps—big and little scraps, boxes and boxes of scraps. Kelsey has committed to making all her new S4H quilts with scraps, starting with this one below.


It would be great if we all focused on using up some of these abundant scraps, many of which are not even organized yet—just sitting in boxes on the floor. And to help you along, Sandra and Kelsey have created a white notebook of easy quilt patterns. So think scrappy for the coming months. Let’s see if we can reduce the surplus. Thanks, Judy.
