FLTA Advocates for Clearer, More Accurate TRID Disclosures📌📈

The Florida Land Title Association (FLTA) recently submitted comments to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) in response to its Request for Information on the TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure (TRID) Rule (Docket No. CFPB-2026-0018).

Working alongside the American Land Title Association (ALTA), FLTA supports commonsense changes that would reduce unnecessary redisclosures and allow title insurance premiums to be disclosed accurately based on state law.

FLTA’s comments specifically address an issue affecting Florida consumers and title professionals: the current TRID requirements can result in title insurance premiums being displayed differently on the federal Closing Disclosure than the actual premiums charged under Florida law. This can create confusion for consumers, additional paperwork for closing agents, and unnecessary compliance costs.

FLTA is urging the CFPB to correct this decade-old issue and allow title insurance premiums to be disclosed at the actual rates charged under applicable state law—making the closing process clearer and more accurate for consumers.

Advocacy matters! FLTA continues to work to protect consumers, support Florida’s title professionals, and promote the integrity and security of real estate transactions.
