On This Day in Disability History: January 29, 1929 - The world’s first training school for guide dogs, The Seeing Eye, was founded in Nashville, Tennessee. 🦮

The image above shows one of the founders of The Seeing Eye, Morris Frank, demonstrating to skeptical reporters in 1928 that dogs could be taught to safely make the world more accessible for people who are blind.

Just two months after its establishment, The Seeing Eye graduated its first two students and their guide dogs.
