The correct time for graveside service for Dan McCall will be at 10:00am October 6th, Tallahassee National Cemetery

There has been rumors that with the government shutdown, that all veterans services are halted. This is not the case.

The following critical Veterans care and assistance programs will be impacted by the government shutdown:

VA will not provide Veteran career counseling or transition assistance program activities.

The GI Bill Hotline will be closed.
VA regional benefits offices will be closed.

VA will cease public affairs and outreach to Veterans.

VA will not permanently place headstones or maintain the grounds at VA national cemeteries.

VA will not process applications for pre-need burials.

VA will not print new presidential memorial certificates.

Thankfully, the government shutdown will not impact the following VA services:

Veteran health care is not impacted. VA Medical Centers, Outpatient Clinics, and Vet Centers will be open.

VA benefits will continue to be processed and delivered, including compensation, pension, education, and housing benefits.

Burials will continue at VA national cemeteries.
Applications for headstones, markers, and burial benefits processing will continue.

The Board of Veterans’ Appeals will continue decisions on Veterans’ cases.

VA Contact Centers (1-800-MyVA411) and the Veterans Crisis Line (Dial 988, Press 1) are open 24/7

At the direction of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Commander in Chief, Walter D. “Donnie” Kennedy, The Havana flag site has been lowered to “half-staff” and will remain so until October 01, 2025.
This is done in silent honor and respect for Mr. Charlie Kirk, who was slain by the act of an assassin.
Our prayers are with the Kirk family at this most difficult time.

A Message from the Commander-in-Chief
Gentlemen of the Sons of Confederate Veterans,

As the Commander-in-Chief of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and in response to the tragic attack upon the First Amendment of the Constitution and the life of Charlie Kirk, I have ordered the flags of the Confederate States of America and the flag of the SCV to be flown at half-staff for the remainder of this month. Gentlemen, Mr. Kirk was a strong defender of traditional American values, which we in the SCV have long defended. I encourage each member to reflect upon Mr. Kirk’s positive effort to encourage dialogue among people of various viewpoints.

As descendants of Confederate ancestors, Southerners, more than any other Americans, understand the need for civil discourse. We have seen our Southern history distorted and monuments to Southern heroes destroyed by those who do not wish to engage in dialogue, but rather force their radical views upon the South and all of America. Let us hope that Mr. Kirk’s tragic death will force those who hate traditional American values to rethink and change their less-than-civil attitude and discourse with their fellow Americans.

Please follow the lead of General Robert E. Lee and interact with our detractors and Mr. Kirk’s detractors with Christian charity. Pray for Mr. Kirk’s family, these United States, and our beloved Southland.

Welcome to the neighborhood sir.
On May 03, 2025, CSA Navy, First Engineer, John Henry Loper, was welcomed into the Confederate section of the “Old City Cemetery” in Tallahassee Fl.
Extensive research proved undiniably that First Engineer Loper served in the CSA navy, and is buried in an unmarked grave in the cemetery. After a denial for a marker from the Veterans Administration, an appeal, and another denial, private funds were used to purchase a marker for him.
Many thanks to Finley’s Brigade, Historic Cemetery Preservation, and Hall’s Monuments for making this happen.

In preparation of our memorial service, we will decorate the markers in the Confederate section of Old City Cemetery on Friday, April 25,2025, starting at 09:00am.
