“Be a nuisance where it counts.” We don’t take these words lightly. Friends of the Everglades founder Marjory Stoneman Douglas said them, and we live by them. She encouraged activists to never give up, even in the face of ignorance, greed, corruption and bad politics.

Things feel dark these days — a proposed rock mine is threatening Everglades restoration, Everglades National Park’s research team has been slashed because of federal cuts, toxic algae blooms thrive in our estuaries and sea waters year after year — but these problems actually make it the perfect time to be a nuisance.

There is a solution. It’s called Rescue the River of Grass.

🐊 Slow Down for Crocs! 🐊

On your way to Flamingo? You might spot American crocodiles resting near the road. These mama crocs could be laying eggs or carrying them inside—so give them space and drive with care. 🚗💚

Keeping speeds low helps protect these incredible reptiles and ensures a safer drive for everyone. Let’s share the road with wildlife!

Image: An American crocodile rests in the grass beside a paved road in Everglades National Park. A car approaches in the distance as vegetation surrounds the road on both sides.
