We all have a collective responsibility to continue to fight for our right to fish recreationally. The result of the recent presidential election was certainly not in the favor of recreational anglers. "Like" this status if you believe Congress should substantially amend or completely re-write the Magnuson-Stevens Act to allow for real science and data collection to responsibly govern the management of our fisheries!

The federal government continues to stifle the voices of recreational anglers. We can either go quietly in to the night, or we can stand up for what we believe is right and make our voices heard!

All Florida Anglers - There is a major threat to the prized sea trout fishery by the FWC at their upcoming commission meeting in November. A new rule being proposed would open up the fishery to a significantly increased commercial take of the resource. The sea trout fishery is an economic juggernaut as sport fisheries go in Florida. Please contact the FWC and let them know that an increased commercial harvest by cast net would be devastating to the fishery. Please find the FWC proposal attached as a link below.

A very important piece of legislation, the Rigs to Reefs Habitat Protection Act of 2011, has been introduced in the US Senate. This legislation will ensure that oil and gas platforms are not needlessly destroyed when it is determined that they hold important coral and reef habitats for fishery enhancement. Please visithttp://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/BILLS-112s1555is/pdf/BILLS-112s1555is.pdf to read the bill. We urge you to contact your congressional representatives and urge them to pass this legislation quickly.

The proposed transfer of a substantial portion of the Alaskan halibut recreational (for-hire/charter boat) fishery to the private sector is unacceptable. We encourage you to visit the attached link to learn more and take action through our partner KeepAmericaFishing. We, as recreational anglers, are in this fight together. Let's help our friends to the north defeat this proposal.

KeepAmericaFishing is leading the fight to preserve your right to sustainably fish on our nation's waterways.
