As Floridians prepare for Hurricane Isaias to make landfall in the Panhandle, FES and ACEC Florida want to ensure our members understand the risks associated with volunteering in the aftermath of a catastrophic weather event. Engineering Florida's article, “Post-Disaster Safety Assessments: Your License Is Not At Risk,” can help you understand the considerations and responsibilities involved in post-disaster assessments.

FES and ACEC Florida also encourage everyone to prioritize safety before, during, and after landfall. Please remain off the roads as much as possible to avoid hazardous conditions that can lead to preventable accidents and keep roadways clear for first responders conducting critical search-and-rescue efforts, debris removal, and power restoration.

Please stay informed and stay safe.

Please join us in honoring Roland A. Rodriguez, PE, recipient of the 2026 Florida Engineers in Construction (FECON) Practice Section Individual Excellence Award! The award recognizes a professional who has made an outstanding contribution to advancing, improving, and raising awareness of how engineers protect, defend, and maintain public safety and welfare.

Roland has more than 29 years of civil engineering experience focused on consulting, engineering, and inspection (CEI). He began his career with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) as a Roadway Inspector and progressed through the FDOT Professional Engineer Trainee program. Throughout his career, he has managed more than $800 million in major and complex roadway and bridge construction contracts across Florida.

Today, Roland is a Principal and Senior Vice President at Pinnacle Consulting Enterprises, Inc., and remains actively involved in several engineering organizations, including the FES Miami Chapter, where he currently serves as Vice President.

FES is proud to recognize Tim Lattner, P.E., as the 2026 Florida Professional Engineers in Government (FPEG) Engineer of the Year! Tim serves as the Director of the Office of Construction for the Florida Department of Transportation, where he leads, guides, and supports Florida’s construction community in successfully delivering transportation projects on schedule and within budget. During his 31-year career, Tim has held leadership positions as Director of the Office of Design and Director of the Office of Maintenance, following a career that began in Construction Engineering and Inspection.

Congratulations, Tim, on this well-deserved recognition and your contributions to engineering in government!

Congratulations to Wesley Foster, PE, SI, MBA, recipient of the 2026 FES New Product Award! The award recognizes the important role engineers play in developing new products and technologies that benefit Florida and advance research, innovation, and economic growth.

Wesley is the Founder and CEO of Pacifica Engineering Services, a Florida firm providing engineering, plan review, inspections, and construction support services. His work focuses on improving how projects move through permitting and construction through practical engineering solutions and technology. That focus is reflected in PlanCheckPro, the product recognized with this year’s award.

Please join us in congratulating Chakradhar Gondi, PE, recipient of the Florida Professional Engineers in Industry (FPEI) Practice Section 2026 Engineer of the Year Award! The FPEI Practice Section Engineer of the Year Awards recognize the nominated engineer who has made the most outstanding contribution to the advancement of engineers in industry.

Chakradhar serves as a Project Manager and Forensic Structural Engineer with Pennoni, based in the firm’s Clearwater office. With 12 years of experience, he specializes in the inspection, design, analysis, and retrofitting of new and existing structures across residential, commercial, telecommunications, solar, and industrial applications. His expertise includes investigating and evaluating structural damage and deficiencies resulting from foundation settlement, weather events such as wind, storms and flooding, and design flaws.

Congratulations to Eric M. Jimenez, PE, PMP, CCM, on being named a 2026 Fellow of the Florida Engineering Society! Eric began his engineering career in 1987 and has more than 35 years of experience delivering major design-build and infrastructure projects, including more than $1 billion in projects for defense clients during his 21 years with Jacobs. As Vice President & Director of Operations of Ardmore Roderick, he has helped expand the firm’s Florida operations. Eric has also made a significant impact through his service to FES, including as Co-Chair of the FES International Committee, where he helped strengthen relationships with engineering organizations internationally and played a key role in establishing Order of the Engineer chapters in Puerto Rico. A 2019 FELI graduate and former Florida Engineers in Construction (FECON) Chair, Eric continues to contribute to the engineering profession through leadership and service.
