Day two of the 2026 FES | ACEC Florida Annual Conference kept the energy going with another full schedule of educational sessions, celebrations, and opportunities to connect. Attendees heard from industry experts on topics affecting Florida's engineering profession while sharing ideas and experiences with colleagues from across the state.

During the FES Awards Lunch, we recognized outstanding students, chapters, and engineering professionals, including the presentation of the prestigious Engineer of the Year Award to Charles W. Davis, Jr., Ph.D., FES Fellow, CSSGB. Congratulations, Dr. Davis!

We also celebrated the graduation of the 2026 Florida Engineering Leadership Institute (FELI) class, recognizing the next generation of leaders prepared to make a lasting impact in our communities and in their careers. Several members also participated in the Order of the Engineer ceremony, reaffirming their commitment to ethical engineering practice.

Later that evening, FELI Alumni gathered for a cocktail reception, where the Class of 2026 thanked Joey Wood, P.E., for his guidance and support, and the night ended with the FES | ACEC Florida Membership Dinner, bringing members together to reconnect and celebrate accomplishments.

Thank you to everyone who helped make it another memorable Annual Conference! We look forward to doing it all over again next year!

The 2026 FES | ACEC Florida Annual Conference is off to an outstanding start as engineering professionals from across the state gather in Cape Coral to connect, learn, and lead under this year's theme, Innovate. Integrate. Inspire. Engineering Beyond the Algorithm.

The conference opened with the installation of the 2026-2027 FES and ACEC Florida Boards of Directors, welcoming our new leadership, FES President Jose Luis Acosta and ACEC Florida President Coriann Salas, and their officers. We appreciate Florida Representatives Kim Kendall, Lauren Melo, and Bill Conerly, along with Senator Jonathan Martin, for participating in this year's Legislative Roundtable and sharing valuable insights into the priorities and outlook for the 2027 Legislative Session. (And a special shoutout to Pete Sheridan, who embraced his patriotic side to help raise funds for FEPAC, proving that a little patriotism and a good sense of humor go a long way in supporting engineering advocacy!)

A sincere thank you to our Opening Keynote Speaker, the Honorable Jeff Kottkamp, Esq., President and CEO of Florida TaxWatch, for an engaging presentation on Florida's economic and policy landscape. His remarks highlighted the importance of sound fiscal policy, strategic infrastructure investment, and thoughtful public policy in maintaining Florida's continued growth and competitiveness, providing attendees with valuable perspective on the issues shaping our state's future.

Our first full day also featured a strong lineup of educational sessions covering timely topics and emerging trends impacting the engineering profession. The day concluded with the University Receptions, where alumni from Florida's engineering programs gathered to reconnect with fellow graduates and friends, and the Presidents' Reception, celebrating the beginning of the new year.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to our sponsors and exhibitors whose generous support and partnership have helped make this conference possible.

And we're just getting started! With more educational sessions, networking opportunities, and special events still ahead, this is only a preview of what's shaping up to be an exceptional conference.
