Where does the money for Florida's voucher program actually come from?

One of the biggest misconceptions about vouchers is that they exist separately from public school funding. In reality, voucher funding is intertwined with the same education funding system that supports Florida's public schools.

This video breaks down how the funding works, why lawmakers and auditors have raised concerns about transparency, and how a state audit found Florida couldn't fully account for $270 million in taxpayer-funded voucher payments while a $398 million voucher funding shortfall emerged.

It's simple: Schools that do good jobs shouldn't be afraid of accountability and transparency.

If taxpayer money is funding a child's education, families deserve transparency, students deserve protections, and taxpayers deserve proof that their investment is delivering results.

That's not controversial. It's common sense.

Ten years ago today, 49 innocent lives were taken in a senseless act of hate at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando.

As we mark this painful anniversary, we remember those who were lost, hold their families and loved ones in our thoughts, and reflect on the lasting impact this tragedy has had on our state and communities.

Schools that are doing right by students have nothing to fear about transparency & accountability.

So, here's a simple question: If a school takes taxpayer money, should it have to show taxpayers how that money is spent and what results it's producing? ⬇️

Taxpayers deserve to know where their money is going, how it's being spent, and whether it's actually supporting students. No matter where education dollars go, transparency and accountability should follow.

When politicians rewrite history, students pay the price.

After reviewing Florida's new state-funded U.S. history course, the 14,000-member American Historical Association delivered a blunt assessment:

"𝘽𝙮 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙥𝙚𝙙𝙖𝙜𝙤𝙜𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙪𝙣𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙁𝙡𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙖'𝙨 𝙥𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙨."

Students deserve classrooms guided by educators, historians, and academic standards, not political agendas.

💬 "This is a marathon, not a sprint."

Tamara Russell with the Lake County Education Association reminds us that progress doesn't happen by accident. Every gain for students, educators, and public schools comes from people who show up, speak out, and stay engaged.

It takes educators, parents, and community members working together, building momentum over time, and refusing to give up on the schools our students deserve. 📚✊

Public schools report their graduation rates. Many taxpayer-funded voucher schools don't.

Public schools answer to elected leaders. Many taxpayer-funded alternatives don't.

If taxpayer dollars are on the line, accountability should be too.

EduVoter President Crystal Etienne makes it clear: If public dollars come with public obligations for district public schools, they should come with public obligations for every institution receiving taxpayer funding.
