Kaylin's Caring Konnection, Inc.

Kaylin's Caring Konnection, Inc. Kaylin’s Caring Konnection, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, founded by, now, 18-year-old Kaylin Jean-Louis. That’s a lot of smiles! Movement.

aims to uplift the community by meeting needs with care, bringing smiles to faces, and fostering a spirit of love and connection. It was birthed out of her heart and vision to see all children smile and feel cared for, despite their circumstances. Watching a commercial a few years back, showing children who had no shoes where the organization was asking for shoe donations, Kaylin was touched deepl

y by what she saw. She could never imagine not having shoes to wear and immediately wanted to donate shoes. It was also then that she began thinking of different ways that she could give and have an opportunity to show someone who may not feel loved and cared for that if no one else does, Kaylin Cares. She wanted to be able to bring a smile to the faces of children who may be hurting or facing a difficult time due to being sick and hospitalized. In her efforts to reach this goal, one of her first partnerships was with the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Foundation. In 2016, she met with the Foundation’s liaison to find out more about the Foundation and to provide her vision and what she wanted to do to give back to hospitalized children. She held her first Christmas Teddy Bear Drive in 2016 and with the help of community partnerships (both business and individuals), Kaylin’s Caring Konnection gave over 200 teddy bears to the hospital as comfort to the children. Since then, the vision has expanded and Kaylin is making a huge impact in her community and abroad with her Caring Drives and most recently, her Youth Care Too!

This week's show is special because I’ve got one of my favorite people in the world back on my show with me — my best friend, Krysten Hood. She’s a third-year broadcast journalism major at FAMU, entering her last semester of junior year, and I’m heading into my last semester at the greatest HBCU on the planet.

And you know, as we’re both stepping into these new seasons, we’ve been doing a lot of reflecting — on who we were when we first stepped foot on the Hill, and who we’re becoming now. So this week, we’re talking about “What We Learned in College” — not just academically, but emotionally, spiritually and personally.

November is National Family Caregivers Month, and during this time, the world pauses to recognize and support the incredible people who care for their loved ones every single day. This month hits close to home for me because my mom and I are caregivers for my grandmother, who has Alzheimer’s — a disease that has touched my family for generations and turned many of us into caregivers.

That’s why it’s so encouraging to see organizations right here in our community taking time to honor those who give so much of themselves. The Dementia Care and Cure Initiative, or DCCI, is doing just that through their “Hearts of Care, Hands of Thanks” Caregivers Celebration, happening at the Chattahoochee Southside Senior Center on November 20th from 10 AM to 1 PM. This event is all about showing appreciation, offering support, and reminding caregivers that their work truly makes a difference.

Joining me on the show today is Whitney Scott, a Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern at the TMH Memory Disorder Clinic and a member of DCCI. She’s here to share more about this special event, the importance of supporting caregivers, and how our community can get involved.

This week's conversation is one of resilience, faith, and the power of legacy. Imagine someone so full of life—gifted in music, athletics, and community service—that their presence lights up every room they enter. They inspire others not just by what they say, but by how they love, how they give, and how they truly value everyone around them. But what happens when that bright light is suddenly taken from the world far too soon? How does a family pick up the pieces and not only heal but also honor that life in a way that continues to serve others?

I'll be joined by two remarkable women—a mother and daughter who have taken unforeseen loss and decided to pay forward a mission that uplifts their community and carries forward the dream of someone so deeply loved. Through their organization, L.I.V.E., which stands for Love Intentionally, Value Everyone, they’re making a real impact—providing resources for students and families in need, spreading hope, and continuing a vision that refuses to fade. As we talk, you’ll hear not only the heart and story behind L.I.V.E. but also details about an upcoming event that will honor a legacy while raising vital support for those who need it most.

Tune In Today at Noon!

I recently celebrated a birthday and stepped into the big 2-0. Honestly, I can’t believe I’m actually here—but in tradition, I wanted to take a moment to reflect and share some of the greatest lessons I learned in chapter 19. This past year brought me the good, the bad, and the completely unforeseen. But through it all, I stand stronger than I was 365 days ago, carrying wisdom I never imagined I’d gain.

This week, I want to let you in on those lessons—things I learned about friendships, faith, love, trusting God’s plan, and stepping fully into who I’m called to be. My hope is that whether you’re 19, 29, or beyond, these lessons remind you that every season has purpose, and every step you take prepares you for where you’re meant to go.
