Florida heat hits different when you don’t have a place to cool down.

This summer, the Kearney Center outreach teams are working across the Big Bend every day to help vulnerable neighbors Beat the Heat with essentials like water bottles, cooling towels, sunscreen, bug spray, and fans.

Summer essentials are survival essentials.

When you’re shopping this week, add 1 more item for someone who may be facing the Florida heat outside.

Drop donations off anytime at the Kearney Center’s reception desk.

Meet Chris 💙

Since arriving at The Kearney Center in February 2025, Chris has found support, stability, and a community that has helped him get back on his feet.

Now, he takes pride in giving back by helping care for the facility through yard work, making sure the grounds reflect the welcoming environment inside.

In Chris’s words:
“The representation of the outside reflects what’s on the inside. I take care of this place like it’s my home.”
