We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the Barbara Bush Fund for Family Literacy at the George & Barbara Bush Foundation – a new initiative dedicated to addressing America’s literacy crisis.

The Fund will provide direct grant support to high-quality, community-based family literacy programs nationwide, helping parents and children build brighter futures.

As Doro Bush Koch shared:

“My mother believed that parents are a child’s first and best teachers, and that family literacy is one of the most important investments we can make. We see the launch of this new Fund as the natural next step in the evolution of the work that she cared about so deeply – one that will allow for even broader reach and deeper impact on families across the country.”

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of her birth, we asked families from across the country to show us what family literacy looks like to them, and we were so inspired by the examples they shared. They showed us that opportunities to learn together are indeed everywhere. We hope these examples inspire you to make time to read, learn, and play with the important people in your life!
