The Tallahassee (FL) Chapter proudly participated in the 45th National Assembly of The Links, Incorporated, held June 24–28, 2026, at the Huntington Place Convention Center in Detroit, Michigan.

Centered around the theme, “Celebrating the Joy in the Journey,” representatives from 305 chapters convened to conduct the important business of the organization and further its mission of friends transforming communities through service.

The Tallahassee (FL) Chapter was represented by thirteen dedicated chapter members, including Opal McKinney-Williams, Esq., Chapter President, who served as Delegate, and Dr. Christine Jenkins, Chapter Vice President, who served as Alternate Delegate. Together, they proudly represented our chapter while helping shape the future direction of our beloved organization.

Today, we celebrate the invaluable role that fathers and father figures play in shaping families, strengthening communities, and inspiring future generations. Black fathers, in particular, continue a proud legacy of love, leadership, resilience, and commitment, serving as pillars of support and examples of excellence.

On this Father’s Day, the Tallahassee (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated honors and thanks all fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, mentors, and father figures whose guidance, sacrifice, and unwavering presence make a lasting difference in the lives of others.

Happy Father’s Day to all who answer the call of fatherhood with love and purpose.

On this day 75 years ago the Tallahassee (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was established and became the first chapter to be chartered in the state of Florida. Seven members were a part of the chartering group: Hilda Foote, Pearl Gore, Irene Edmonds, Sadie Yancey, Emily Hudson (Valdosta, Georgia), Ruth Hutto (Bainbridge, GA) and Thelma Walton (Thomasville, Georgia).

Presently the Chapter has 34 active members and continues to make a significant impact in the community with numerous service projects and program activities.

On Saturday, May 16th the chapter celebrated with a Brunch and Gala. This evening, at the original location of the chartering, Sunshine Manor on the campus of Florida A&M University, a plaque will be dedicated.
