Feeding Florida

Feeding Florida Feeding Florida's 9 member food banks serve all 67 counties through over 2,400 local food pantries.

Feeding Florida members are the 12 Feeding America affiliated Regional Distribution Centers in Florida. Our members partner with more than 2,300 faith-based and nonprofit agencies meeting the daily needs of people who struggle with hunger throughout all 67 counties in the state of Florida. Through the generosity of food manufacturers, the Florida agricultural community, wholesalers, retailers, fed

eral commodity programs, and local communities, our member Food Banks distributed more than 197 million pounds of food last year to our neighbors in need. Feeding Florida is a Partner State Association of Feeding America, the nation's leading hunger-relief organization. Each Feeding Florida member food bank must meet stringent guidelines to be associated with Feeding America (formerly America's Second Harvest). This mutually beneficial contracted relationship assures both financial and operational excellence. It also provides accountability through network training, site monitoring and the maintenance of substantial records verifying conformity to established Federal and State safe food handling standards. Feeding Florida members are private, non-governmental organizations with high ratings from Charity Navigator.

Feeding the Gulf Coast, which in Florida serves Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes, Washington, and Bay County, provides specialized programmatic support to military and veteran families.

Service members often face distinct challenges that make it difficult to access the food they need to thrive. Reasons range- from enlisted members’ low salaries, high rates of unemployment for military spouses (due to the transitory nature of the military), the high cost of living near many military bases, and the high cost of child care.

To combat food insecurity for active-duty, retired, and Veteran military personnel, Feeding the Gulf Coast partners with the eleven military installations across their Gulf Coast service area and with partner organizations near military bases.
Through these partnerships last year, the food bank provided more than 242,000 meals to military families and Veterans in our community.

The farmer spotlight shines on M&B Product's Andrea McClellan this month.
Andrea is one of the thought leaders who have helped shape Florida’s milk recovery effort. She relentlessly championed for fresh milk to find a home in Florida communities when school demand drops. Rather than watching fresh milk leave the state or farms struggle, she worked alongside the food bank network and industry partners to help create a rescue system that keeps milk in-state.

“I couldn’t give up until we found a way to keep that milk local and help families in need.”

Feeding Florida is grateful for advocates like Andrea who understand the mission of Farmers Feeding Florida.

That impact became real in a simple conversation at her local grocery store, when a food bank volunteer recognized her shirt and shared: “For the first time, we’ve had milk to go with our cereal.”

Moments like that continue to remind Andrea why this work matters so deeply.

This month we are highlighting Feeding the Gulf Coast, one of Florida’s oldest food banks providing nutritious food and essential resources to neighbors facing poverty, crisis, or disaster. While this unique food bank provides support to three states along the Gulf Coast, they specifically serve seven counties across the Florida Panhandle, operating a branch in Milton to ensure local families have consistent access to help.

The scale of Feeding the Gulf Coast is immense– in 2025 alone, the food bank distributed 37 million meals through a network of more than 800 community partners, including church pantries and soup kitchens.

To address the root causes of food insecurity in the rural Florida communities they serve, Feeding the Gulf Coast operates diverse programs ranging from Child Nutrition initiatives like the Backpack Program to "Food as Medicine" efforts through their Community Health and Nutrition department. The food bank also provides critical disaster relief, helps thousands of individuals apply for SNAP benefits, and supports seniors and military families with tailored food assistance.

This food bank is in the community every day, through their Mobile Market "Millie", rural Mobile Pantries, and community partners, they are committed to ensuring no one in the Gulf Coast goes without a meal.

This month, Feeding Florida is proud to feature Andrea McClellan of M&B Products in our Farmer Spotlight series.

Andrea never expected a two-week opportunity at M&B Products to turn into a 20-year career in dairy. After graduating with a degree in biomedical sciences and planning for medical school, she stepped into the lab to help the company restart milk packaging—and quickly found a passion for the industry and the people behind it.

Today, she helps oversee operations while continuing to advocate for Florida dairy farmers and the value of fresh milk. As Andrea shared with us, “I love that I believe in what I sell. Milk is natural, nutritious, and affordable.”

Especially kids!

Join us in raising a glass 🥛 to the dairy farmers helping make a difference every day.

The Fresh Access Bucks team had the opportunity to spend a morning serving alongside other volunteers at Treasure Coast Food Bank. While on site, our team received a tour of the brand new food bank facility opening later this summer, which will be able to serve even more local families with fresh food, support services, and job training programs. We are thankful for the work our food bank partners do and the collaboration that exists between our programs.
