🏹 ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT: JOHN GAUGER

John Gauger finds the Gainesville Senior Games to be a tradition built on competition, camaraderie, and a lifelong passion for archery.

John, 81, has been part of the Gainesville Senior Games for the past 18 years, competing in archery, a sport he first picked up more than 60 years ago. Over the decades, his dedication has led him to achieve many milestones, including earning multiple national titles and setting numerous national records.

What John enjoys most about the Gainesville Senior Games is the unique archery experience. From shooting in the woods to competing on the regular field archery course, he appreciates the variety the event offers. But even more than the competition, it's the people who keep him coming back year after year. "The people are always so kind," he shared. "It's great to see everyone each year."

For John, archery has always been about the thrill of competition. Whether he's aiming for a personal best or competing alongside fellow athletes, he enjoys the challenge that the sport brings. This year, he's especially excited to return for another opportunity to compete and reconnect with friends, saying he always has a great time and looks forward to another fun year.

When reflecting on his favorite memories, John points to the many Senior Games he has competed in throughout the years, as well as the national records and titles he has earned along the way. His accomplishments are a testament to decades of commitment and passion for the sport.

For anyone considering signing up for the Gainesville Senior Games, John's advice is simple: "You just got to do it! You will never know if you don't try!"

Through nearly two decades at the Gainesville Senior Games and more than 60 years in archery, John represents the dedication, sportsmanship, and community that define the Games. His story is a reminder that pursuing your passion and embracing new challenges can lead to a lifetime of unforgettable experiences. 💙

From Fort Lauderdale to the World Stage! 🌟🏹
Join us in celebrating Colton Walters of the Fort Lauderdale Archers for an incredible run at the NFAA National & IFAA World Field Championships!
Colton didn't just compete—he made history. Not only did he claim the National Title with record-breaking Hunter and Animal rounds, but he also spearheaded Team USA’s point lead to take DOUBLE GOLD in the World Championship team events!
To top it off, he earned an Individual Silver Medal with a perfect animal round and a new field round record. 🥈🎯
Congratulations, Colton! And a massive round of applause to all our Florida archers who showed up and showed out this week! 🏹❤️
