Today is and we’re centering Black mamas, creators and parents. Black maternal health has become crucial in the state of Florida, with the depletion of midwifes and doulas, to the economic barriers to access proper health care. At Black In Repro, we prioritize Black maternal and infant health in every step of our advocacy.

According to the National Partnership for Women & Families, “Nearly one in four Black women are likely to report at least one form of mistreatment by health care providers. They are twice as likely as white women to report that a health care provider ignored them, refused a request for help, or failed to respond to requests for help in a reasonable amount of time. (2023)”

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be part of the Birth & Repro Justice movement! Join Athena Guice, Community Doula and Advocate, in advocating for change and ensuring that every person’s birthing experience is safe, supported, and respected.

Florida’s Legislative session has begun and it’s time we organize and make plans to engage legislators! It’s okay if you’re unfamiliar with the legislative process! Join the virtual Roundtable for the next 9 Wednesdays! No registration is required. We will meet every Wednesday from 7 pm-8 pm EST for the next 9 weeks (from January 17th until March 13th, 2024) to continue discussing birth & reproductive justice with an emphasis on the proposed state-certified doula program, maternal health policies, and reproductive rights and focuses.
