This past weekend, TallyRobotics hosted the Tallahassee FRC Regional with FIRST. Over 1,000 students competed on 38 teams from five countries at the FAMU Al Lawson Multipurpose Center. Not only is this an amazing tourism and economic development opportunity for our community, we are also recruiting and building our future technology workforce.

Thanks to our area FIRST Ambassador, Laura Daniher Leonard and the army of volunteers that contributed to the regional tournament and to Florida A&M University for hosting.

Congratulations, to the team at Synapse Florida on another stellar . They continue to raise the bar in promoting innovation and collaboration across our State. This year, the Summit attracted over 6,000 attendees, 800 investors, 300 exhibitors and 150 speakers - including AOL founder and Revolution CEO, Steve Case. We're grateful to be a part of it, to contribute to its success and for the opportunity to showcase Tallahassee companies, innovation and talent.

Today, a new adventure starts. Running your own business requires a lot of skills that you don’t necessarily learn in college and definitely not in high school. A lot of it you figure out as you go. The biggest lesson, for me, is deciding how big and how fast I want to grow, especially when the product that I mostly sell is my own intellect and creativity. How do you create economies of scale when the product is truly limited? One way is to find a partner and not just an assistant. And THAT can be just as complicated! Trust, commitment, attention to detail… so many questions pop up on what skills are needed and what can be taught. Most importantly, do I have the courage to take the step?

A few weeks ago, I attended an innovate TLH gathering which brought together Tallahassee-based business owners and connectors with the goal of creating a network that better leverages the talent that lives in our community to attract and retain young and developing talent in Tallahassee. About ten days later, one of the founding members of that group, Scott Balog, connected me with a fellow creative and freelancer who shares a passion with me to serve the nonprofit community. After meeting and negotiating terms and expectations, she will join Windwood Communications and Consulting. 🎉💪🏾👏

So, today is a new day and an opportunity to trust the process and take that first step without seeing the whole staircase.

Such a great accomplishment and milestone for Tallahassee's Magnetics Corporation. Their multi-year, research and development partnership agreement with Philips is the direct result of a collaborative effort that included Florida State University, the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory and the Tallahassee-Leon County Office of Economic Vitality and is a testament to Tallahassee's stature as a global leader in magnetics technology and innovation.
