🌸 Attention women veterans! 🌸

Here is another wonderful opportunity created specifically for women veterans to connect, recharge, and focus on ourselves for a few hours. ❤️

The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System and James A. Haley VA Women Veteran Programs are hosting a Women Veteran Relaxation Day.

đź“… Saturday, August 22
⏰ 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
📍 Central Park Performing Arts Center
105 Central Park Dr., Largo, FL 33771

The day will include sound bowl therapy, chair yoga, guided meditation, a storytelling circle, self-care activities, a panel discussion, raffle giveaways, and—most importantly—the opportunity to spend time with other women veterans.

Sometimes self-care means giving ourselves permission to stop, breathe, connect, and simply enjoy the company of women who understand the unique experience of having served.

RSVP is required. See the flyer for the email address and QR code to register.

Please share and forward this to the women veterans in your life. You never know who may need a day like this. 🇺🇸❤️

Today, we honor a remarkable woman, a World War II Navy veteran, and a trailblazer whose legacy will continue to inspire generations.

Mrs. Hazel Jones Womble passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the extraordinary age of 106.

Mrs. Womble served our nation during World War II, remaining on active duty until August 1946 before continuing her service in the U.S. Navy Reserve through March 1953. She earned the World War II Victory Ribbon and the American Theater Ribbon, yet like so many women veterans of her generation, her service went largely unrecognized.

For nearly 80 years, she never enrolled with the VA or received the benefits she had earned.

That changed on April 8, 2025...

Su***de remains one of the most urgent challenges facing our Military, Veteran, and First Responder communities. National data shows:

Veterans are 57% more likely to die by su***de than non‑veterans

Firefighters and law enforcement officers experience higher su***de rates than line‑of‑duty deaths

Traumatic Brain Injury increases su***de risk by up to 4x

Lethal means safety interventions can reduce su***de attempts by up to 40%

Florida Springs Wellness & Recovery Center, Wiregrass Military Veteran First Responder Coalition, SAFER Together Alabama, The Fire Watch, and the Haley Brain Wellness Program are bringing together leading experts, evidence‑based training, and frontline resources to change these numbers.
