Happy Birthday Dr. Al McCully! Today, we were honored to celebrate Dr. McCully’s legacy with the Frueauff Family who drove from Arkansas to Tallahassee just to honor him. David Frueauff, Anna Kay Frueauff, and Anna Kay’s son, Walker, along with Dr. McCully’s family, came to celebrate his remarkable impact and enduring legacy of compassion and service, by dedicating a room at Big Bend Hospice’s First Commerce Center for Compassionate Care - a gift made possible through the generosity of the Charles A. Frueauff Foundation.
For 35 years, the Frueauff family and their Foundation have provided over $2.1 million in support of Big Bend Hospice Foundation through their extraordinary generosity and commitment to our mission. We are incredibly grateful for the partnership, difference, and impact they continue to make in the lives of our patients and families.
Dr. McCully, one of Tallahassee’s first urologists, was instrumental, with his wife, Jean, in starting Big Bend Hospice and remained involved throughout their lives, as have their children. The room the Frueauff Foundation dedicated (Room 6) is a specialized negative pressure room designed to care for some of our most vulnerable patients; ensuring compassionate hospice care for individuals, while allowing Big Bend Hospice to continue serving every patient in need.
“Today was a beautiful reminder that compassion, generosity, and service create legacies that live on for generations. Big Bend Hospice Foundation is honored that the Frueauff and McCully Families play a part of this lifetime of memories and kindness,” said Dena Strickland Hendrix, Big Bend Hospice Foundation President.
