As Hurricane Isaias approaches, we’re keeping everyone across the Florida Panhandle in our thoughts.

Please stay safe, stay informed, and take the necessary precautions to protect yourselves and your loved ones. Follow the guidance of local emergency officials, look out for your neighbors, and remember that no property is worth risking your safety.

We’re grateful for all the firefighters and fellow Floridians who are preparing to help our communities weather the storm.

Meredith is being recognized for her tireless work geared toward improving the lives of firefighters throughout Florida.

If Amendment 3 passes, local governments will have less money. The question is: what gets cut?

Firefighters know what it takes to answer the call: trained people, reliable equipment, working apparatus and stations close enough to get help where it’s needed.

Floridians deserve property tax relief. But they also deserve a clear, sustainable plan for the public safety services their communities rely on every day.

Today, Florida’s public safety community stood together with a clear message: Amendment 3 is an emergency for public safety.

Florida’s firefighters, fire chiefs, police chiefs, sheriffs and police officers don’t often come together to take a position this strongly. Today, we did.

FPF President Wayne “Bernie” Bernoska and District Vice President David Perez joined public safety leaders from across Florida to raise serious concerns about what Amendment 3 could mean for the local funding that supports fire rescue, EMS, law enforcement and disaster response.

We all support meaningful property tax relief. But Florida cannot afford to make a permanent change to our Constitution without a reliable plan to fund the people and services our communities depend on every single day.

Public safety stands united. Vote NO on Amendment 3.

Twenty-five years later, we remember our 343 fallen brothers. We remember all who were lost. And we will never forget.
