We had such a wonderful time celebrating John Sabados' 100th birthday at our last meeting in January! 🥰
As you can imagine, he is revered in our veteran's club! Seriously!' This man saw the surrender of the Japanese in World War II! We all stand in reverence of his service!
John was on the Navy ship, the Missouri, where/when the Japanese and the Americans signed the peace treaty to end World War II. That was in in the Pacific front after D DAY (June 6. 1945) in Normandy, France.
John even showed us his personal photographs books from 1945! He has the original black and white photos from when he was a young man at the end of the Great War!
We owe a HUGE thank you to Big Fish Real Estate/Marketing and the Southwood Golf Club! It was a fabulous night for our neighborhood club!
As a reminder, this is basically a social club for neighborhood veterans. It's an all services, all ranks club. We just want to connect with each other.

We were lucky to have Melissa Sheridan from the new Tallahassee National Cemetery come speak to our group during the August meeting. She told us that you can fill out a Pre-Need Application to determine your eligibility for burial at the Cemetery. It goes to an office in St. Louis, Missouri where they have VA employees who can assit with the verification process. Spouses are also eligible for burial services and can be interred next to each other in a grave or in a columbarium for cremated remains (cremains).

Here are some pictures from the August meeting.
