TODAY is the day to VOTE!

All year we talk about people power. We listen. We research. We organize. We build relationships. We advocate for the voices that too often go unheard. But there comes a moment when nobody can exercise your power for you.

The ballot is one of those moments.

So whether you vote before work, during lunch, or after work please go vote. And after you vote, call somebody. Text somebody. Check on somebody. Ask them one simple question: “Have you voted yet?”

Addressing Food Insecurity in Our Community

Sunday, August 30 at 11:45am (following our 10:30am worship service)

Join us for a special luncheon as we explore one of the most pressing needs in our community. We’ll hear from local leaders who will help us better understand the realities facing many families in Tallahassee, and the challenges they encounter in accessing nutritious food.
How shall we respond – as people of faith – with compassion, generosity, and justice?

We will be celebrating the difference our parish is already making – through our Food Pantry, and our partnerships with Grace Mission, the Second Harvest of the Big Bend, and Capital Area Justice Ministry. There will be a panel discussion by the following speakers: Robbie Brunger representing Holy Comforter’s Food Pantry, Christy Teal of Second Harvest of the Big Bend, Mother Rachel Allen of Grace Mission, and Bryan Stringer of the Capital Area Justice Ministry followed by time for questions.

Lunch will be catered so please RSVP to [email protected] to confirm your participation by August 21. For those visiting from other faith communities, there will be time afterwards for a tour of our Food Pantry operations.

Vote-By-Bus will provide transportation to the B.L. Perry Library Early Voting site this weekend, Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16, from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. The shuttle will pick up at Jack McLean Community Center, Columbia Gardens Apartments, and Jake Gaither Community Center. It is air-conditioned, wheelchair accessible, and refreshments will be provided. Please share with those who may need help!

CAJM introduced you to the candidates at the Nehemiah Action. Now is the time to get out to vote!

Early Voting lets you avoid long lines, and vote when and where it is most convenient for you. Early voting is available now through August 16.

Each Early Voting site also has a drop box you can use to return your Vote-by-Mail ballot.

Every day, we ask our young people to put down their guns, reject violence, and choose a different path. We encourage them to resolve conflict without intimidation, threats, or violence because we know the choices they make today will shape the future of our community.

📣 Registration is now open for CAJM's Summer Strategy Team Trainings!

Whether you're a current strategy team member or interested in getting more involved, these trainings are designed to equip you with the tools, skills, and relationships needed to help drive meaningful social change in Tallahassee and Leon County.

📅 Part 1: June 20 | 10 AM–3 PM
📅 Part 2: July 25 | 10 AM–3 PM
📍 St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Sanders Hall

Together, we'll explore:
✅ The CAJM Way of creating change through relationships, collaboration, and strategy
✅ Research skills and best practices for volunteer teams
✅ How local change happens in Tallahassee and Leon County
✅ Building team cohesion, narrative power, and a strong foundation for action

Each training will also include dedicated strategy team breakout time to help move your team's work forward.

We encourage all strategy team members to attend at least one training and, if possible, both. Be sure to register and invite others from your team to join you.

Happy Mother’s Day from Capital Area Justice Ministry💕

Today, we honor and celebrate the mothers, mother figures, caregivers, grandmothers, aunties, mentors, and all the women who have stood in the gap for our families, our communities, and our movements.

Throughout history, women have been the backbone and cornerstone of social change. From organizing neighborhoods and leading movements to nurturing future generations and fighting for justice in the face of adversity, your strength, wisdom, compassion, and courage have carried communities forward time and time again.

Your labor, both seen and unseen, has shaped lives, protected hope, and created pathways toward a more just and loving world. We recognize that so much of the work of justice begins with women who choose every day to care, advocate, lead, and persevere.

To every woman who has poured into others, spoken up when it mattered, shown up when it was difficult, and held communities together: we are deeply grateful.

We’re deeply grateful for the hospitality and support of our community partners. Spaces like this strengthen the relationships and shared commitment that make our work for justice possible.

As we build on this momentum, we need all hands on deck to keep the work moving forward. Join one of our committees focused on food insecurity, mental health, immigration, violence interruption, or affordable housing, and be part of creating real change in our community.

We were honored to host a working lunch for the committee leaders of Capital Area Justice Ministry.

Since moving into our larger space, it has been incredibly meaningful to open our doors to the community, creating room not just for meetings, but for connection, collaboration, and shared purpose. There’s something powerful about gathering in one place with people who care deeply about justice, who are committed to showing up for their neighbors, and who are actively working to build a better Tallahassee and beyond.

Moments like these remind us that this work is not done alone. It is built through relationships, through trust, and through people who are willing to come together and do the work. We’re grateful to continue growing alongside leaders and organizations who believe in what’s possible.
