The Capital Area Justice Ministry is a coalition of more than 20 religious congregations working together to build a powerful community-wide network that will bring about justice and equity in Tallahassee and the surrounding area. The mission of the Capital Area Justice Ministry is for diverse religious congregations to work together over the long haul to build a powerful movement that will end se

gregation and poverty, and advance justice and opportunity for all. We endeavor to build justice ministries within and among our congregations and engage the faith community across the Big Bend to build authentic relationships so we can dismantle the oppressive local systems that have produced inequity, segregation, and the wealth gap between privileged and marginalized communities.

CAJM's strength comes from the people who make up this movement. Across congregations, neighborhoods, and communities, ordinary people are coming together to build extraordinary power for change. By listening to one another, building relationships, and taking collective action, we can elevate a shared community voice that holds decision-makers accountable and advances solutions that create a more just and equitable Tallahassee for all.

Last night was a reminder that hope is still alive.

Nearly 100 people gathered together, with many more joining online, to stand for justice, community, and change. Together, we pledged more than $32,000 toward building people power and investing in a better future for the Capital Area.

We were honored to hear from incredible community leaders, celebrate Rev. AJ Mealor’s unwavering leadership, and witness the power of organized people coming together with purpose.

If you haven’t given yet, there’s still time to invest in this movement and help us continue organizing, developing leaders, and fighting for justice across our community.

Thank you for showing up, believing, and helping build a movement rooted in hope and justice.

The best has yet to come.

Tonight’s the night! Join us at our Celebration gathering as we come together to reflect on the work, the wins, and the power of community action.

This year has been one of growth, deeper organizing, and new focus areas centered on mental health and immigration justice, and none of it would be possible without the support of this community. Tonight is an opportunity to celebrate what we’ve built together while helping fuel the work still ahead.

We hope you’ll join us for an evening of community, reflection, and collective investment in a more just and compassionate Capital Area. ✨

📍 May 19 | 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
🎟 Free & open to the community

Happy Mother’s Day from Capital Area Justice Ministry💕

Today, we honor and celebrate the mothers, mother figures, caregivers, grandmothers, aunties, mentors, and all the women who have stood in the gap for our families, our communities, and our movements.

Throughout history, women have been the backbone and cornerstone of social change. From organizing neighborhoods and leading movements to nurturing future generations and fighting for justice in the face of adversity, your strength, wisdom, compassion, and courage have carried communities forward time and time again.

Your labor, both seen and unseen, has shaped lives, protected hope, and created pathways toward a more just and loving world. We recognize that so much of the work of justice begins with women who choose every day to care, advocate, lead, and persevere.

To every woman who has poured into others, spoken up when it mattered, shown up when it was difficult, and held communities together: we are deeply grateful.

Happy Mother’s Day. 💐

We’re deeply grateful for the hospitality and support of our community partners. Spaces like this strengthen the relationships and shared commitment that make our work for justice possible.

As we build on this momentum, we need all hands on deck to keep the work moving forward. Join one of our committees focused on food insecurity, mental health, immigration, violence interruption, or affordable housing, and be part of creating real change in our community.

Email [email protected] to get connected and find out where you’re most needed.

We were honored to host a working lunch for the committee leaders of Capital Area Justice Ministry.

Since moving into our larger space, it has been incredibly meaningful to open our doors to the community, creating room not just for meetings, but for connection, collaboration, and shared purpose. There’s something powerful about gathering in one place with people who care deeply about justice, who are committed to showing up for their neighbors, and who are actively working to build a better Tallahassee and beyond.

Moments like these remind us that this work is not done alone. It is built through relationships, through trust, and through people who are willing to come together and do the work. We’re grateful to continue growing alongside leaders and organizations who believe in what’s possible.

On May 19 at 6 PM, we’re coming together to honor the victories we’ve fought hard for, uplift the power of our community, and launch the next chapter of this work. This isn’t just a celebration; it’s a chance to be in the room with people who are building real power for change in Tallahassee. Join us as we reflect, recharge, and recommit to the work ahead.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

Loving God, Creator of our minds and hearts,
We lift up all people living with mental health challenges.
We pray for those burdened by anxiety, depression, fear, or confusion.
Bring comfort to the brokenhearted and peace to those whose minds are in turmoil.
We lament the stigma and shame that often keep people silent.
Forgive us when we have misunderstood or neglected those who are ill.
Grant us the compassion to be a welcoming community, a refuge of safety where those in pain are known, valued, and loved.
We pray for healers—counselors, caregivers, and family members—that they may bear witness to Your spirit of love and patience.
Guide them to provide necessary care to those on their healing journeys.
For those in despair, send them light, hope, and the strength to take the next step.
May your peace, which passes all understanding, guard our hearts and minds,
And may we be agents of that peace in the world.
Amen.
