Congratulations Troopers!

Troopers of the Month – January 2026

Troopers Jeremy Solomon and Timothy Elmore of Troop A are recognized for their actions during a high-risk incident on January 7, 2026.

After observing a vehicle traveling 105 mph on State Road 79, Trooper Solomon initiated a pursuit when the driver fled. With Trooper Elmore responding as backup, the pursuit ended when Trooper Solomon successfully executed a PIT maneuver, causing the vehicle to overturn.

The suspect fled on foot while armed with a handgun and shouted that he had charges against him and was “going to death row.” During the encounter, the suspect brandished the firearm, and Trooper Elmore discharged his weapon in response to the imminent threat. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Both troopers demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and composure while managing a dangerous and rapidly evolving situation, reflecting their commitment to the mission of the Florida Highway Patrol and the safety of the citizens they serve.

Never Forgotten.

Trooper Michael T. Diego will receive full line-of-duty death honors, with a memorial service scheduled for 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

The service is open to the public. A public viewing will begin at 10:30 AM.
