Rince Álainn Irish Dance - Drake Talladega

Rince Álainn Irish Dance - Drake Talladega Rince Álainn means “lovely dance” in Gaelic. We seek to serve the community through dance and a (certified instructor).

Irish Dance is a modest, rhythmic art form that includes elements similar to ballet, tap, clogging, and square dance. Originating in Ireland, Irish dancing is a traditional dance form that includes both social and performance opportunities. It encompasses wide variety of styles for solo, pair, and group dancing. Many people think of step dancing, such as that associated with the popular Riverdance

, when they think of Irish dancing. Classes begin with soft-shoe dances that focus on agility and weightlessness, and move on to complex group pieces and heavy hard-shoe dances as they advance. Kristin Hurst McRae is the founder of the Rince Álainn School of Irish Dancing. She has performed with Grammy winners The Chieftains, Eileen Ivers, the original fiddler for Riverdance, and other various dance performances around the south. She has trained under Karl Drake, owner of the Drake School of Irish Dance in Atlanta, Amanda Tucker, owner of Celtic Traditions in Auburn, Alabama, Deidre O’Conner, New York, Mary Moran, owner of Nashville Irish Steppers, and Maggie Revis Basenburg, principal dancer from Michael Flatley’s “Lord of the Dance”. I am so proud of our dancer, Margaret. She performed as an orphan in Southern Dance & Performing Arts Company’s Christmas Ballet, Christmas Angels. The proceeds from this ballet will go toward purchasing winter coats for foster children in Talladega County. I love that our dancers not only love Irish but are also well rounded and give back to the community.
