This is a joyous time for sure. We accepted the first 4 men as family into the mostly finished bunk house. The guys came to us from the recovery center here in Talihina. The men have pitched right in to get the bunkhouse finished and are doing a great job during their off time from looking for jobs, getting their GED's, going to church and educational classes. We only need a couple of living room chairs, floor tile, paint, blankets, pots and pans so that the 4 men living in our bunk house can call it a finished home. We took the men in to the mostly finished house the beginning of the month because they needed a home and we felt even though we weren't totally finished it was the right thing to do.
We are trying to raise funds to buy the articles we need to finish the house by selling raffle tickets for a handmade quilt that was made and donated by a 91 year old Talihina women to help us. If you could help us by buying a ticket or two and send this post on to all your facebook friends who might buy a ticket and ask them to do the same it would help us call the bunk house a "home" to men who need a hand up.The tickets are $1 and the drawing will be held on January 6th. See picture below of Ina Mell Dill and the handmade quilt she made and donated.
Please help us give these men in need a hand up. For more information on buying a raffle ticket, selling raffle tickets, receiving our newsletter, about our program or possibly taking on In A Good Way as an on going project for yourself or an organization you belong to.
