Our final 2024 Troy D. Brown Memorial Scholarship Recipient is Ms. Sydney (Lexi) Hines. Lexi is the daughter of Sydney and Simone Hines, granddaughter of Charles & Mary Hines, and Bobbie Giles.

Lexi is a proud graduate of Paris High School, and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Agribusiness with a minor in Finance from Texas A&M University - Commerce in 2022.

Lexi is currently enrolled in the Graduate Program at Texas A&M University Commerce and will graduate in December with a Master of Science Degree in Accounting.

Please help us congratulate our next 2024 Troy D. Brown Memorial Scholarship Recipient , Mr. Jaylon Norman!

Jaylon is the son of David Norman and Zina Allen, and the grandson of Mack and Darleen Newton, Bobbie and Lorenza Spencer, and Lawrence and Juana Allen. Jalen is a proud Ranchview High School graduate. He will be attending Full Sail University in Florida to pursue his dream of becoming a music producer.

Our next 2024 Scholarship Recipient is Ms. Leah Dean! Leah is the daughter of Lauren Dean and Keith Hines; and the granddaughter of Richard & LaBarbara Dean and Margaret Hines.

Leah is a 2023 graduate of Hebron High School where she performed with the Drill Team and participated in the Black Student Union.

Currently a sophomore at Grambling State University, Leah is working to obtain her Degree in Nursing. She is actively involved in the Student Government Election Board, contributing to the governance and leadership of her college campus community. Leah was also a nominee for Grambling State University’s Freshman of the Year and is looking forward to continuing her education. Congratulations Leah!

Please join us as we celebrate our next 2024 Troy D. Brown Memorial Scholarship Recipient, Ms. Avian Hines Bell. Avian is the daughter of Candace Woodard and Keith Hines, the granddaughter of Debra Bell and Margaret Hines, and the great granddaughter of Rubye Allen.

Avian is a 2023 Honors graduate of Mansfield Legacy High School where she was awarded Magna Cum Laude. Avian currently attends the University of Texas at Arlington, where she studies Biology on a PreMed track. Avian also volunteers 3 times a week and currently serves on the Executive Board for the Black Student Union and NAACP. Congratulations Avian!!!

Eddie “Tre” Williams III is our next 2024 Troy D. Brown Memorial Scholarship Recipient! Tre is the son of Cheryl Griffin & Eddie Williams, Jr.; grandson of Bobbie & Eddie Williams, Sr., Mitch & Stacey Carney and Dale & Roxy Griffin.

Tre is a 2024 Honors graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. Tre will attend Southern Arkansas University in the fall, where he will major in Business.

Please join us in celebrating our next 2024 Troy D. Brown Memorial Scholarship Recipient, Ms. Kacy Hines. Kacy is the daughter of Lacee & Greg Lawson and Keith & Talya Hines; and the granddaughter of Margaret Hines and Henryett Porter.

Kacy is a 2024 honors graduate of Tatum High School where she participated in a dual credit program, graduating from Panola College with an Associate of Science Degree while still in high school. Kacy will attend the University of North Texas in the fall, where she will be studying Computer Science.

Congratulations, Kacy! We look forward to following your journey to see what you will accomplish next!

We are happy to present our first 2024 Troy Brown Memorial Scholarship Recipient, Ms. Kaylee Connally!

Kaylee is the granddaughter of Ms. Sedia Brown. She is a 2024 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School where she participated in a dual credit program, and practicum of health science program graduating with her Phlebotomy and Medical Assistant License(s) while still in high school. Kaylee will attend the University of North Texas in the fall, where she will be studying Biology on a premed track. Congratulations, Kaylee! Continue to make us proud!

Recently we awarded our 2024 Troy D. Brown Memorial Scholarship Awards. Thank you all for your support of our Talco Community youth, as your contributions truly made a huge difference. A special thank you to Mrs. Darlene Newton and our President, Mrs. Bobbie Williams who led the charge, to ensure we could be of service to these deserving young people.

Our Committee Members came together in a short period of time to exceed our fundraising goal for the year. With your generous contributions, we were able to award 7 Scholarships to ensure that our students have the opportunity to pursue higher education.

Over the next few weeks we will proudly highlight each of our recipients. Please join us in celebrating their accomplishments and supporting them on this exciting next chapter of their lives!

This Scholarship honors the legacy of the late Elder Troy D. Brown who dedicated his life to uplifting our youth and serving the Talco community.

Please join us as we continue to ensure that minority students from our community have the resources to pursue higher education.
