We want children to learn what they want, succeed when they try, and to be better people for it. For the Love of Music was formed, informally at least, in 2020, a year which held many trials for many people. After the untimely death of a friend, brother, son, and music lover, this group was formed with one primary objective:
To provide musical opportunities to children and youth in East Tennessee
Aaron Love, our beloved but departed namesake, would have loved this sort of monument to his memory. Aaron was an avid musician in all aspects, willing to sit down for hours practicing instruments, listening to friends play, discussing albums, or simply enjoying songs on the radio. However, there was one thing missing from Aaron’s life that did him a great disservice:
Opportunity. You see, in our region of East Tennessee, music education has been severely lacking for years. In fact, when Aaron and his friends were young, the only music education offered in school were the traditional school band and chorus classes. This is not a critique of those classes at all, as they do wonderful things for many students, but what of those students interested in electric instruments? In Jazz, metal, opera, or any of other often overlooked sections of the musical universe? For the Love of Music here to help those students. With our money, time, and resources, we aim to connect kids with instruments, teachers, classes, scholarships, and any other opportunities they may need. If kids have a natural interest and/or inclination towards music, we hope to help bridge the gap. So, if you are feeling inclined, we encourage you to donate to our cause in any way possible. A one-time donation can be completed here on our website, as well as an option to set a recurring donation each month. See the links at the top of the page. Throughout the year we also hold larger events, including selling concessions at local sports events. Moreover, time is equally valuable as money, and if you wish, we would love to have you help with one of our events. There is a link to more information on this as well, also located at the top of the page.
