Big Impact Grant Community Choice Voting Update!

The race is heating up! The Garden Club gained a bit of ground yesterday. Thanks to our incredible community, $1,316.00 has been cast in support of this year's finalists.

BIG IMPACT GRANT COMMUNITY CHOICE VOTING UPDATE! The competition is heating up.🔥

The community continues to show up in a BIG way! Thanks to your support, we've already raised $1,306.00 to help fund next year's Big Impact Grant program.

While these are the current standings, there's still plenty of time for the leaderboard to shift! Every vote helps determine the Community Choice Winner and supports future community improvement projects right here in Tahlequah.

📍 The TMSA office will be open Friday from 10-4pm for anyone wishing to vote in person.

July 17–19, communities across Oklahoma will come together to celebrate the Weekend of Local a movement created by the Independent Shopkeepers Association, to shine a spotlight on the small businesses that bring character, creativity, and connection to our communities.

But Weekend of Local is about more than shopping.

It's about celebrating the people behind the storefronts, the dreamers who took a chance, the families who invested in our community, and the business owners who show up every day to serve their neighbors.

When you choose local, you're supporting more than a business. You're supporting local jobs, local events, local nonprofits, and the unique spirit that makes Tahlequah feel like home.

A Look Back: The Impact of the Big Impact Grant

Since its inception, the Big Impact Grant, originally known as the Big Idea Grant has served as a catalyst for creativity, investment, and community pride in downtown Tahlequah.

Created to support and retain downtown businesses while encouraging projects that enhance the downtown experience, the grant has helped turn ideas into reality and has demonstrated that even small investments can create lasting change. Every three to five years, the program opens to public applications, giving business owners, organizations, and community members the opportunity to share their vision for making downtown Tahlequah even better.

Over the years, the Big Impact Grant has left its mark across the district.

While each project is unique, they all share a common thread: a commitment to strengthening downtown Tahlequah.

This year marks another exciting chapter in the program's history. For the 2026 Big Impact Grant, three finalists have emerged, each with a vision for enhancing the downtown district. Two finalists are downtown business owners seeking to improve and strengthen their businesses, while the third is a community-focused project proposed by the Nasturtium Garden Club. Though different in scope and purpose, each project represents an opportunity to create a positive and lasting impact on downtown Tahlequah.

The Big Impact Grant is about more than awnings, signs, murals, or beautification projects. It is about investing in people, supporting local businesses, encouraging innovation, and building a downtown that reflects the pride and passion of the community it serves.

As we look back on the projects that have shaped downtown over the years, we are reminded that every improvement starts with an idea and every idea has the potential to make a big impact.

2. A set of beaded earrings (look to have been purchased at the festival)
3. 2 separate house keys
4. A pair of prescription glasses
