April is Alcohol Awareness Month.

At the American Indian Resource Center, we’re preparing students in Adair, Cherokee, and Delaware counties to make informed decisions about their futures.

Through our Sexual Risk Avoidance Education program and the Love Notes curriculum, students learn how alcohol and drug use impact decision making, relationships, and long-term goals.

Alcohol doesn’t just affect the moment. It increases risk, weakens boundaries, and can lead to outcomes that change lives.

That’s why we focus on real skills. How to make intentional decisions. How to recognize unhealthy relationship patterns. How to protect personal goals when it matters most.

This is not a single lesson. It’s a foundation for healthier relationships and stronger communities.

Join us in supporting youth across northeast Oklahoma during Alcohol Awareness Month.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

At the American Indian Resource Center, our SRAE program believes that the lessons in The Dibble Institute's Love Notes are about much more than romance. They are about the light our students bring to their families and their neighbors in Adair, Cherokee, and Delaware counties.

Today we honor Dr. King by choosing respect and steadying our relationships. We see our youth working hard to treat themselves and others with dignity every day.

We hope you find a way to share a bit of light and love with your community today.

🌎💜World Su***de Prevention Day 💜🌎

Today, we honor the lives lost and extend love and strength to all who have been touched. Together, through outreach, education, and awareness, we can break the stigma surrounding mental health.

On this important day, let’s commit to building a community that is informed about mental health, dedicated to prevention, and supportive of everyone who has been affected. 🩵
