🌟 A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR PRESENTING SPONSORS! 🌟

The Tahlequah Trails Association would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to the following Cherokee Nation Tribal Councilors for coming together to support our trails and outdoor community!

🙌 Sasha Blackfox-Qualls D1 Tribal Council of the Cherokee Nation
🙌 Candessa Tehee District 2 Tribal Councilor
🙌 Lisa Hall District 3 Tribal Councilor
🙌 Codey Poindexter - Cherokee Nation Tribal Councilor D-8

These four councilors worked together to contribute funds to become the Presenting Sponsor of the Illinois River Ramble Gravel Ride, taking place on November 14, 2026! 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

The Illinois River Ramble is the sole fundraiser for the Tahlequah Trails Association, helping support our mission to build, maintain, and improve local trails for our community to enjoy.

We are incredibly grateful for their generosity, teamwork, and commitment to supporting outdoor recreation in our area. Their contribution helps us continue making a positive impact through our local trail system!

Please join us in thanking these councilors for investing in our trails and community! ❤️🌲

🚨 KROP TRAIL SIGNAGE & CLOSURE INFORMATION

Today, Friday, September 25, Jon Bloodworth will be out marking the trails at Welling Ridge Trails with signage for tomorrow’s Kaizen Right of Passage (KROP).

Welling Ridge Trails will be OPEN today (Friday) and you may ignore the specific “DO NOT ENTER” signs you see along the trails. These signs are being placed specifically to help guide the runners and prevent them from taking a wrong turn during the race.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Any trails that are actually closed for your safety will be clearly marked with tape completely blocking the trail. Please do not enter any trail that is physically blocked off.

🏃 KROP RACE — SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26

Welling Ridge Trails will be CLOSED to the general public all day Saturday (Sept. 26th) from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM for the KROP trail event.

Please plan accordingly and help us keep our runners, volunteers, and spectators safe!

⸻

💧 KROP IS A SEMI-CUPLESS RACE 😅

Kaizen Running Club provided LOTS of cups at the aid stations last year.

This year, they will still have cups available — BUT they bought fewer than last year, despite having MORE runners.

So…

BRING 👏 YOUR 👏 OWN 👏 CUP! 👏

Or bring a refillable bottle, soft flask, hydration pack, etc.

There will be more enough hydration for everyone to enjoy!

⸻

📢 A huge shout-out to Jon Bloodworth, matt.lee_photography, and Jon Lee and for all the hard work they put into the Kaizen Right of Passage trail run and hosting such a great event! 👏🏼👊🏼❤️

Good luck to all of our KROP runners! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️💪

Trail IS NOW OPEN!

Safety Closure of a section of Hathaway Hollow Trail shown on map included in this post. Please do not use the section of trail between Rocky Rogue intersections. We have a tree hanging above the trail. We have blocked the trail with tree branches and yellow straps as a temporary solution. Our trail maintenance team is working to remove the tree. Updates will follow. Thank you.

WHAT A MORNING AT WELLING RIDGE TRAILS🌲❤️

Today was about more than just clearing trees and debris from the trails—it was about community, perseverance, and people coming together to restore a place we all love.

More than 20+ amazing volunteers showed up this morning and gave their time, energy, and hard work to Welling Ridge Trails. Together, we removed trees, limbs, leaves, and storm debris from Hathaway Hollow, Big Brother, and Crazy Terrain, making all three trails ACCESSIBLE once again! 🙌🌲

And when the work was done, we gathered around the trailhead for burgers, hot dogs, and fellowship. 🍔🌭❤️

Following the devastating storm that forced the closure of our trails, we have witnessed something truly special. Day after day, members of our community have stepped up—bringing chainsaws, tools, equipment, and most importantly, their time—to help restore Welling Ridge Trails.

We know we still have work ahead of us, but mornings like today remind us exactly why these trails are so special.

They aren’t just dirt, trees, and miles of trail.

They’re a place where our community comes together.

They’re a place where families hike, friends ride, runners push themselves, volunteers work side-by-side, and people make memories.

And today, our community took another big step toward bringing that place back. 💚

To every volunteer who has shown up since the storm, every person who has donated their time or equipment, and everyone who has supported the Tahlequah Trails Association along the way:

THANK YOU.

We truly cannot put into words how much your support means to us. Welling Ridge Trails is coming back because of YOU. 🛠️🌲❤️

Hathaway Hollow • Big Brother • Crazy Terrain — ALL ACCESSIBLE 🎉

This is what community looks like. 💪

We’re excited to announce that next week, we plan to bring Welling Ridge Trails back open! 🎉
Stay tuned for details and an official post coming soon!
