A few early mornings, a lot of miles, and plenty of meaningful moments along the way—our Spring 2026 AIPEC immersive trip kept us moving. 🚐

We started in Norman at the Oklahoma Native American Youth Language Fair, hosted at the Sam Noble Museum, where youth from across the state shared powerful language performances. While there, participants also explored the museum and joined a guided tour of the Jeanine Rainbolt College of Education at OU, followed by a hands-on medicine bag activity led by Sarena Gray (Diné) from OU’s Tribal and Indigenous Education Initiatives program.

The next two days were spent at Jones Academy, a historic boarding school in Hartshorne that now serves Native students through culturally grounded education. AIPEC participants shadowed teachers, spent time in classrooms, and gained a deeper understanding of how culture and education come together in practice. We even squeezed in a stop at Robber’s Cave—because no trip is complete without a little time outdoors.
