📢 Big news from Kern County: The Board of Supervisors has approved the SSR-EIR, moving us one step closer to restoring responsible oil and gas permitting.

At the June 26 hearing, our Public Relations Director Manny Campos shared how this industry has supported working families like his and why it matters to our local economy. For LULAC #3272, standing up for jobs, opportunity, and energy produced under strong environmental standards is part of our mission to uplift Kern County’s Latino community.

📊 Key Facts:

Over 35,000 local jobs in Kern are supported by oil and gas, with average wages of $89,095.

The industry contributes $13.5 billion annually to Kern’s economy—funding schools, roads, and public safety.

Statewide, it supports over 536,000 jobs and generates $53.4 billion in wages.

California’s energy production is held to the strictest environmental standards in the U.S., promoting cleaner, more responsible energy and reducing reliance on foreign oil.

We thank everyone who joined us to speak up. Our presence ensures that Kern County’s diverse voices are part of the conversation. 💬💪🏽
