Our fourth graders brought the year 1851 to life with their very own Great Exhibition! Each student researched a country and an invention, dressed in character, created a prop and informational display, and presented their discoveries.

With countries from around the world represented, visiting classes had the chance to step into history and experience the excitement of the original Great Exhibition!

Last week, our third graders painted a watercolor map depicting explorers and tribes. Mrs. Wombacher guided them through the process, watercoloring alongside the students. Once they completed their maps, the students carefully placed them in their Captain’s Log, which will hold all their projects by the end of the year.

Dressed as medieval monks, our 2nd graders stepped into the Middle Ages for a Scriptorium and Cathedral Tour! They explored the beautiful art and architecture of First Presbyterian Church, discovering rose windows, pelicans in the floor tiles, and the stories behind the blue-tiled dome and crowned chandeliers.

Then, our “monks” put their skills to work in the Scriptorium—with a special commission from the Queen of Gollingham herself!

We love making history something our students can experience, not just read about.

Our fifth graders are diving into ancient Mesopotamia and learning about one of the world’s earliest writing systems: cuneiform.

After studying how ancient scribes pressed wedge-shaped marks into clay tablets, students got to try it themselves! They shaped their own clay tablets and practiced writing in cuneiform—bringing their history lesson to life through hands-on learning.
