City Manager's Office will give an update on the 2027-2028 budget process and how the community can provide feedback.

Representatives from City/County/State/local organizations.
Any/all liaisons should sign-up as they come in to receive 3-mintes to give an update plus Q&A time.

Most, if not all of us has been impacted by su***de within our family, friend-group or general community. Pierce County is hosting a Su***de Prevention Summit and “Bridge to Hope 5K”. This free community is open to everyone in Pierce County and is designed to bring people together to save lives – they’ll learn, connect, support one another, and help break the stigma surrounding su***de and mental health conditions.

Please register for this important Summit and help us share the news. There are three segments and you can register for any or all of them:

1) for Professionals/First Responders
2) for the General Community
3) the “Bridge to Hope 5K Run/Walk”.

Please share info about the Summit and Bridge to Hope 5K with your friends and on your social media channels. If you are willing to distribute flyers in your community, let us know and we’ll get you some. We can only help people if they know about this opportunity.

Washington faces the Silver Tsunami
Washington is facing a crisis of business flight that negatively impacts the local economy and communities they are in. With over 70,493 businesses in Washington with owners over +55, a ‘Silver Tsunami’ of owners wanting to retire is an opportunity to secure your legacy in the business and preserve jobs.

This 6 week program will help business owners learn about the benefits and process of selling the business to the workers as a cooperative. The academy is for owners who are ready to move to the next chapter of their lives and are interested in supporting their workers in carrying on their legacy. The program will also be beneficial for senior and key staff who will play an important role in the transition to worker ownership. In addition to learning about the co-op model and conversion process, participants will also hear from selling owners and workers who have benefited from following this route.

The Co-op Conversion Academy is designed for business owners considering a sale to their workers, converting the business into a cooperative in the process & the purchasing workers serving as members/potential members of the “steering” or “buyout” committee.

Where to recycle styrofoam*:

In Pierce County, clean block expanded polystyrene can once again be dropped off at the Tacoma Recycle Center, 3510 S. Mullen Street!

Clean block polystyrene, polystyrene coolers, and polystyrene packaging sheets dropped off at the Tacoma Recycle Center are compressed on site and turned into solid blocks, which are then transported up to Styro Recycle in Kent. Please note that packing peanuts, food containers, and dirty foam are not accepted.

*StyrofoamTM is a brand name for a building insulation product made by the DuPont company. The white foam product we see used for disposable packaging, plates and cups is expanded polystyrene, or EPS. EPS is about 98% air and has gaps between the foam beads, which is why it is so light and crushes easily.
