📢 Training Matters. Safety Matters.

Our students deserve schools that protect them every day. But with budget cuts and a contract that left out critical training for educators, too many of us are left without the tools we need to support immigrant students and families.

That’s why we’re grateful community partners like , , and are stepping up to provide this essential training:

🗓 Tuesday, August 26th — BEFORE the school year begins
🕖 7 PM on Zoom
🔗 RSVP: tinyurl.com/SafeTacoma826

We’re starting this year with student safety front and center — with the intention of developing plans, building confidence, and getting our community organized.

This is open to all educators — teachers, paras, office staff — as well as caregivers and community organizations. The stronger we are together, the safer our students will be.

✊ Every student, every day deserves safety, dignity, and protection.

EVERY STUDENT, EVERY DAY
deserves a fully funded school.

📣 Tomorrow (6/20), Mason Middle School students are walking out.
Because they see the truth:

⚠️ 403 staff displaced or cut
⚠️ 203 still unplaced for next year
⚠️ $30 million shortfall
⚠️ Programs and people lost

These students are not misguided—they’re powerful.
And in Washington State, they have the right to protest.

📚 According to the ACLU of WA, students do not lose their constitutional rights at school. Peaceful walkouts are protected speech. Schools can mark students as absent, but they cannot discipline students more harshly for protesting than they would for any other unexcused absence.

💥 We stand with Mason students.
💥 We call on all TPS students to speak up.
💥 We invite caregivers and educators to share their stories, support their students, and show up.

📸 Post.
📹 Livestream.
📣 Take action.

Tag us. Submit your story. Be seen.

🔥 "203 staff. No jobs. Next year."

This isn’t a spreadsheet error. This is deliberate. This is devastating.

Behind every Tacoma Public Schools cut is a human being — a teacher, a para, a librarian, a counselor — ripped from the school community they built.

Supt. Josh Garcia confirmed it:

203 staff currently do not have positions for next school year.

📢 Where are the names? Where are the programs? Where is the plan?

We won’t wait for vague promises in August.
We demand answers.
We demand transparency.
We demand justice.

✍️ Tell your story. Show the real cost.

📢 Tacoma School Board Meeting — Speak Out Against the Cuts!
🗓 Thursday, June 12, 2025
🕕 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
📍 Central Administration Building, 4th Floor Auditorium
601 South 8th Street, Tacoma, WA 98405

Tacoma Public Schools has already begun cutting millions from our schools — eliminating staff, gutting programs, and stripping services from students and families.

✅ Librarians gone.
✅ Paras cut.
✅ Special education supports reduced.
✅ Peer Inclusion Preschool slashed.
✅ Class sizes ballooning.
✅ More impacts coming.

This is not theoretical — the cuts are happening now. And they hit our most vulnerable students the hardest.

📣 Join us. Show up. Speak out. The School Board needs to hear — loud and clear — that our community rejects these choices.

✊🏽 Every student, every day — not optional.
💥 Every family, every educator, every voice matters.

Public comment is open. Bring your testimony, your stories, your solidarity.

📍 Mason Middle School — Cuts Tracker

Across Tacoma Public Schools, staffing cuts are accelerating. Vital student supports are being eliminated or reduced for the 2025-26 school year.

At least 2 key student support positions are being eliminated or displaced at Mason Middle School this spring:
➤ 1 Instructional Coach displaced (lost to another site)
➤ 1 Librarian displaced (Library program reduced to 0.2 FTE — 1 period per day)

Right now, Mason’s full-time library program offers students:
📚 Daily lunchtime access and programs
📚 Summer offerings
📚 Battle of the Books
📚 After-school book clubs
📚 A warm, welcoming environment where students read, learn, and connect

Next year, with just 1 period per day staffed, what will be left?
At 0.2 FTE, the library can support little more than clerical or administrative tasks — not a full program. Office staff — already overworked — may be asked to provide occasional depersonalized self-checkout access.

The vibrant, student-centered library experience Mason Mustangs currently enjoy will be gutted.

Future Mason Mustangs deserve full-time, high-quality library services — literacy programs current Mustangs receive daily.

Meanwhile:

🗣️ On May 16, Supt. Josh Garcia ($386K/year) said:
👉 “We still have more work to do. There will be another round of program cuts and displacement notifications by June 13.”

🗣️ On May 22, CFO Rosaland Medina ($316K/year) said:
👉 “We’ve been making contractive cuts over the last several years. We’ve run out of the easy stuff to make reductions to.”

These cuts take effect for the 2025-26 school year. More cuts are still expected across the district.

👉 ALL STAFF: Please submit any cuts or displacements you know about — whether from your site or across the district.
📚 Classroom educators — please help families know what’s happening. Share the tracker. Invite them to connect.

✍️ Everyone — share your stories and help us build a clear picture of what’s happening district-wide. Submit anonymously or connect here:

📍 Stewart Middle School — Cuts Tracker

Across Tacoma Public Schools, staffing cuts are accelerating. Vital student supports are being eliminated or reduced for the 2025-26 school year.

At least 8 vital student support positions are being eliminated at Stewart Middle School this spring:
➤ Instructional Coach position displaced
➤ Librarian position displaced (Library reduced to 0.4 FTE — 2 days/week)
➤ 3 classroom educators (provisional staff non-renewed)
➤ 3 ESP/paraprofessional positions cut

Stewart Panthers deserve stability and support.

📍 Geiger Montessori — Cuts Tracker

Across Tacoma Public Schools, staffing cuts are accelerating. Vital student supports are being eliminated or reduced for the 2025-26 school year.

At least 10 vital student support positions are being eliminated at Geiger Montessori this spring:
➤ 8 Montessori Assistants
➤ 1 Building Paraprofessional/ESP
➤ 1 Counselor

With only 7 ESPs remaining for 16 multi-age classrooms, families and staff are asking:
Will this even be a Montessori program next year — or Montessori in name only?

Every student, every day deserves leadership that stands with them — not above them.

When students, families, and educators speak out about harm, it is not a “storm.”
It is truth.
It is care.
It is community.

If leadership wants us to “keep that same energy” — we will.

But our energy is for:
📣 Students.
📣 Educators.
📣 Truth.
📣 A better Tacoma Public Schools.

We will not stop showing up.
Not when the room gets tense.
Not when the boardroom doors get guarded.
Not when leadership tries to divide us.

💥 We are showing up — and we are building something better. Together.

Share the truth. Stay loud. Stay strong.

📌 At linktr.ee/esedt, you can:
— Read real stories from students, families, and staff
— Share/Track what is being cut at Tacoma schools
— See admin compensation
— Submit information safely and anonymously
— Take action to fight for students and schools

Because Every Student Every Day deserves better than this.

🚨 Transparency Project 🚨

Tacoma Public Schools leadership says more cuts are coming.

But who is being cut?
What programs are being lost?
Has your school even told you what’s happening?

The district isn’t publishing this.
So the community will.

📊 The Transparency Project is part of the Every Student Every Day Tacoma campaign — a safe, anonymous tool for staff, students, families, and community members to document what they know about cuts and changes in Tacoma schools.

✨ Is your school losing:
— a counselor?
— a favorite teacher?
— a paraeducator who supports your child?
— a librarian?
— peer inclusion or bilingual programs?
— intervention or CTE programs?
— office staff?
— supervision for lunch/recess?
— a nurse?

Have you even been told what’s being cut?
We’re building the tracker. You can help.

"Use your imagination — because that’s what we expect of our kids, and they expect it of you."

At the May 22 TPS Board Meeting, Tobes — a retired Blackhawk test pilot and current Esports coach at Hilltop Heritage — spoke powerfully about Tacoma’s students and those who support them.

🧠 He praised the imagination and brilliance of Tacoma’s students, educators, and support staff.

💔 He called out the district’s lack of imagination in choosing to cut vital staff while sparing central admin.

📢 And he urged board members to fight for redirected cannabis tax revenue — hundreds of millions of dollars in 2023 alone — to support our schools.

Tacoma is full of vision, grit, and brilliance. But the $12 Million Dream Team remains untouched — while paraeducators, teachers, and specialists are slashed.

If Tobes can see it, why can’t TPS?
