The Yelm Prairie Line Trail connects the trail systems of Pierce and Thurston counties.

When complete, it will provide residents in Pierce County access to over 40 miles of connected trails in Thurston and help support the rural community of Roy.

It is a complex project with multiple land owners and jurisdictions involved. FGT has been the main driving force to help coordinate these stakeholders and to maintain project momentum. We have helped secure over $1.7 million for this project and are pursuing design funding for the remainder of the trail to reach downtown Roy.

The Interurban Trail has two parts -- a north-south section that runs from Tukwila through Kent, Auburn, Algona and Pacific, and an east-west portion that connects from Lakeland Hills in Auburn, through Sumner, Pacific, Edgewood, Milton, and Fife.
ForeverGreen Trails has advocated for this trail since 2006. The "low-hanging fruit" has already been completed (the north-south section), or is currently in construction (Sumner's Stewart Road/8th Street White River Bridge project). There are two remaining gaps — one in Edgewood and one in Milton and we are supporting both projects.
Edgewood's gap is one of the most challenging trail projects in our region because of the topography and engineering involved. However, it is a crucial because it is one of the few connections between the plateau and valley floor, providing access to Pierce Transit's and Sound Transit's service areas, as well as boosting capacity on a lahar evacuation route.
Please help support our efforts!

When complete, the Pipeline Trail will connect Tacoma to the Foothills Trail, linking urban and rural areas across Pierce County. Along the way, users will enjoy frequent views of Mount Rainier.
Phase 2 of the project is located in South Hill, near Puyallup. FGT helped secure a $1.5M grant award for this phase. It is currently in design and a ground breaking celebration is expected in late 2026. More information: https://bit.ly/49YycpF

The Pipeline Trail will connect Tacoma to South Hill, through the Summit-Waller neighborhoods. The project is being delivered in three phases. The first phase, from the Tacoma city limits to Orangegate Park was completed last year. The second phase will be developed in South Hill, and the third phase will connect the other two.
The County also plans to eventually connect the Pipeline Trail to the Foothills Trail, providing improved access on/off the plateau for residents and visitors. Along the way, users will enjoy frequent views of Mount Rainier.
For Phase 1, FGT raised $43,000 for this project through grants and a fund drive it hosted. These funds leveraged and additional $3M in state and federal grant funding! For more information: https://bit.ly/4uDW6Oy
