Salishan Association Mixed Income Large Scale Master Planned Community Association Vision: Salishan is recognized as a great place to live.

Mission: Salishan Association works to build Salishan as a community in every way we can. Salishan is a large-scale, mixed income community, located on Tacoma’s historically diverse Eastside, with its roots stretching back to federal World War II worker housing in the 1940’s. As the recipient of a 35 million dollar Hope VI grant in 2003, the neighborhood was revitalized through the demolition and rebuilding of approximately 1,300 dwelling units, including about 400 single family homes for sale. This is the largest residential development in the history of the City of Tacoma. In addition to LEED platinum certified construction, Salishan has an advanced system of bio infiltration swales designed to collect and retain surface water on site, keeping it out of the Puget Sound. Salishan was built for walkers and children, with extensive green belts through and surrounding the neighborhood. The project has won national awards for its housing design, neighborhood scheme, affordability and environmental innovation. The Management Trust partners with Tacoma Housing Authority to offer services to all residents along with homeowners management services for the Salishan community.

Our first Youth Book Club was a success! 📖

Our young readers gathered together to read The Little Yellow Bus by Erin Guendelsberger. They took turns reading aloud, helped and encouraged their peers, and completed their Book Detective activities at the end. ⭐️

We ended our first Book Club the best way…with cake and ice cream🎂

We loved seeing our youth learning, participating, and supporting one another. We can’t wait for our next book club💛

📚💛 **Salishan Youth Reading Club is off to a great start!**

Today was our first reading club, and the kids jumped right in! We read *The Yellow Bus*, taking turns reading aloud. When we finished the book, the kids were excited to share their own summaries and tell us what they took away from the story. 🚌📖

And, of course, we had to end our first day on a sweet note—with cake and ice cream! 🍰🍦

What a fun way to start this new adventure. We’re looking forward to more books, more sharing, and lots of happy young readers! ❤️📚

We have an opportunity to recognize Janette as one of Washington’s Community Champions! 🌟

In Salishan, we have the privilege of seeing the heart and dedication Janette Simon brings to our community every day.

As General Manager of the Salishan Association, Janette is more than a leader — she is present. She listens, she cares, she supports our residents and families, and she is always looking for ways to make Salishan a stronger, more connected community.

If you know Janette, we’d love for you to share your own story about her. Tell them about the Janette you know and the leadership, kindness, dedication, or care you’ve seen her bring to Salishan.

Every story helps tell the bigger story of the difference one person can make in a community. If selected Janette plans to put the grant right back into Salishan, continuing to invest in the community she cares so deeply about.💛

👉 Nominate Janette Simon by November 15 using the link or QR code on our flyer.

Show Up for your Community! 🌟

Our Salishan youth came together for a Community Youth Clean-Up, helping make Salishan cleaner and safer!

It was great to see so many young kids working together, taking pride in their community, and making a difference right where they live. 🏡

After the clean-up, we celebrated everyone’s hard work with a pizza party and a raffle, with six lucky winners taking home prizes! 🎉

A huge thank you to every person who participated and helped care for our community. We are so proud of our Community and are already looking forward to our next Community Clean-Up! 💚✨

Back to School BBQ at Salishan! 🎒✨

On September 2, we kicked off the 2026-2027 school year with our Salishan Back to School BBQ!

Our community came together for an afternoon of good food, school supplies, backpacks, and plenty of smiles as we helped our Salishan youth get ready. 💛

A huge thank you to Impact Schools, NASIM, and all of our amazing community partners who showed up to support our kids and families. We are so grateful for the time, resources, and care you continue to pour into Salishan.

We also got to celebrate Ms. Janette’s birthday, made sweeter by thoughtful community members! 💐🎂

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the day such a special way to start the school year. We’re truly thankful for our community!

Wishing all the Salishan students a great school year! 📚✏️✨
