District 1 - International Order of the Blue Gavel

District 1 covers Washington, Idaho, and Alaska.

Founded in 1953, IOBG is an organization of Past Yacht Club Commodores promoting the highest ideals of yachting and preserving its customs and traditions with social, educational and humanitarian programs.

Opening Days! Dist 1 showing the flag at Seattle Yacht Club and Bellingham YC on May 2nd, and Des Moines Yacht Club, Kingston Cove YC, and Port Ludlow YC on May 9th. We also included PLYC P/C Dale Blackburn yesterday – welcome aboard, Dale!

Great D1 spring meeting at Shelton YC last weekend! 20 members attended in-person and via zoom – a new, post-COVID record! Welcome aboard to P/C Chuck Turner (KCYC) and current SYC Commodore (and transplanted D19 IOBG member) Bruce Moneymaker.

Thanks to all the Shelton YC team for a great Friday reception, well organized Saturday meeting, OUTSTANDING cruise down Hammersley Inlet, and truly wonderful Saturday night dinner. We were also honored to attend their Sunday morning Opening Day!

A shout out to District 1 President, Alan Kester, who represented IOBG at the Flag Ceremony during this past weekend’s Daffodil Festival!

Also, congratulations to the host of this weekend’s District 1 Spring Meeting, Shelton Yacht Club - winner of the Daffodil Festivals’ 1st Place Theme Boat and 3rd Place Flag Ship awards!

We hope to see District 1 members at Saturday's meeting, which will also be online!
