South Sound Planned Giving Council

South Sound Planned Giving Council South Sound Planned Giving Council exists to raise the level of philanthropy in the South Puget Soun

The South Sound Planned Giving Council was formed in 2005 following a decade and a half of informal information exchange lunch sessions through a group identified as the South Sound Planned Giving Study Group. The mission of the SSPGC reflects that of the predecessor study group and adds joint programming with the national Partnership for Philanthropic Planning. Those involved in our group are typ

ically anyone in the major gift and endowment planning fields: attorneys, accountants, financial planners, bank and trust officers, investment counselors, insurance professionals and nonprofit organization development and planned giving professionals. We encourage membership to help build a collaborative collective yet everyone is welcome at our meetings and activities. SSPGC holds regular educational sessions and
we recently added another dimension in staging our first collaborative gathering with the local AFP chapter: A Philanthropic Summit: Uniting to Unleash the Power of Philanthropy to Transform our Community. America has a long and rich charitable tradition, yet approximately six out of ten Americans die without a simple updated will. Of those, only about 8% include a charitable gift – which means many dreams of supporting favorite charities are never realized! As a fundraising professional, charitable gift planning officer, or estate planning advisor we tend to care deeply about our donors/clients. Studies show we feel better about our work because it helps people realize their desire to make a positive impact in the world. You can help philanthropic people unleash the power of their philanthropy to transform our community by encouraging them to incorporate charitable gift planning into their overall estate plans. Pamela Davidson, JD, former President of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning was the presenter and lead faculty for the session. We appreciate our sponsors for this summit:
Greater Tacoma Community Foundation
Hammerman Philanthropic Partners
Tacoma Estate Planning Council
Tacoma Goodwill Industries

All meetings are open to members.

Forward to the Past Brown Bag Lunches. Well over 10 years ago, the South Sound Planned Giving Study Group, the predecessor of the South Sound Planned Giving Council, had brown bad lunches in its members' offices. The purpose was to listen to a presentation made by a member or to hold a general discussion on one or more topics brought up by attendees. We re-instituted these brown bag lunches in 2012 and will continue having them in 2013. Any member may bring up any topic s/he wishes to discuss. Locations will be announced as the date approaches.

07/26/2013

I realize many on this group list who LIKED us are my friends from various areas of my life. Some are in the region, others are not. Some are in the development business some are not. I ask that you suggest this page to anyone you know who is involved in fundraising for organizations and projects, and especially planned giving, major gifts and bequests. That can really help to build our group so that we can raise the level of support for all our many worthwhile philanthropic organizations. Thanks! (Barbara Hammerman)
