The odds are stacked against women leaving incarceration.
No housing โ†’ no employment โ†’ no stability โ†’ back to crisis.
It doesn't have to be that way.
New Connections interrupts that cycle โ€” with safe housing at Irma's Place and Annie's Cottage, personalized resource navigation, and advocacy that removes the barriers no one should face alone.
This Give Big, stand with women who are working hard to stand on their own.

She walked out with nothing but determination. Just a fierce will to start over and a dream. New Connections was there โ€” with a safe bed, a steady hand, and a community that believed in her before she fully believed in herself. For more than 20 years, we've been meeting women at one of the hardest moments of their lives. This Give Big, you can be part of what happens next. Every gift โ€” no matter the size โ€” funds the furnishings and supplies, the resource connections, the moment that changes everything.

This Womenโ€™s History Month, weโ€™re celebrating the strength, resilience, and leadership of the women in our community ๐Ÿ’œ

Pictured here: our staff and residents participating in a Reentry Simulation at Tacoma Community Collegeโ€”an opportunity to build empathy, understanding, and real-world problem-solving skills as women navigate the challenges of reentry together.

So far in 2026, our residents are already making history:
โœจ Securing employment
โœจ Obtaining driverโ€™s licenses
โœจ Enrolling in college classes this Spring
โœจ Growing as leaders in our community

Every step forward is powerful. Every milestone matters. We are proud to walk alongside these incredible women as they continue to thrive, heal, and create new paths forward.

๐ŸŒป Volunteer Opportunity with New Connections: Resident Manager at Irmaโ€™s Place ๐ŸŒป

New Connections is seeking a Resident Manager for Irmaโ€™s Place, our transitional home for formerly incarcerated women who are rebuilding their lives after incarceration.
Irmaโ€™s Place provides a safe, stable, and welcoming environment for women in reentry as they take their next steps toward independence. The Resident Manager plays a vital role in this mission โ€” providing hospitality, consistency, and stewardship in a shared home setting.
๐Ÿ› About the Role:
This is a volunteer live-in position that includes a private bedroom and shared access to all household amenities, with all utilities and internet included. The Resident Manager works closely with the Reentry Advocate and reports to the Executive Director.
๐Ÿ’ซ Ideal Candidates:
Weโ€™re looking for someone who is organized, compassionate, and committed to supporting women reentering the community after incarceration. The right person will bring empathy, strong communication skills, and the ability to maintain calm and structure in a shared living environment.
โœจ Preferred experience includes:
Understanding of reentry, recovery, and community-based resources
Experience in shared housing
Personal experience of incarceration (not required but valued)
๐Ÿ“‹ Key Responsibilities:
Maintain a presence in the home, especially overnight (9 PM โ€“ 9 AM)
Foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment
Uphold and model program and house guidelines
Support residents through transition and reentry challenges
Ensure property care, safety, and cleanliness
Communicate regularly with New Connections staff
๐Ÿ’ป Perks:
Free housing, utilities, and internet
Ongoing support and connection to a dedicated, mission-driven team
A meaningful opportunity to make a tangible impact in womenโ€™s lives.
If you or someone you know would be a great fit for this role, please reach out to us at [email protected] for more information or to apply.
Letโ€™s work together to create a community where every woman has the support she needs to thrive after incarceration. ๐Ÿ’œ
