The UW-REN 2019 Titlow Beach restoration project is coming to a close, below are a couple before and after photos of our site. We are incredibly proud, excited, and grateful for the progress we were able to make during our time at this site. We would not have been able to do it without our dedicated volunteers, the UW REN cohort, and our fantastic community partner, Metro Parks Tacoma. The continued success of the site is dependent on community involvement and stewardship, and we hope that you will remain engaged with this work from this point forward. You can do so by signing up for Metro Parks' "Chip-In" program to be notified of upcoming volunteer opportunities:

What a success! We got nearly 60 plants planted yesterday, the site is really coming together. Thanks to our awesome volunteers who worked an extra hour to get all our trees planted.

It's been brought to our attention that the online signup for our planting party today might not be working properly, if that's the case, no worries! You can just come on down to the site at 10 and we'll get you signed in!

We made a lot of progress today at the site! We decimated our giant mulch pile and it is now in the portion of the site that was previously completely overgrown with English Ivy. Really proud of the progress! Thank you to those volunteers that made it, today was a lot of hard work but was so worth it.

It is a beautiful day! One might even say, a perfect day for mulching at Titlow Beach Park?

We will be there from 10-1 today, hope to see you there!

UPDATE: The Work Party Today is on!

02/14/2019

THIS WEEKEND'S WORK PARTY: The severe weather conditions this past week have led to some broken and fallen tree's on the site. Metro Parks is in the process of evaluating the situation and clearing hazards, but the site may not be deemed passable by this Saturday, we are still waiting on confirmation and will update volunteers when we know conclusively if the work party will be going forward this weekend. Look for updates on this page, and emails will be sent out to those that registered on Friday evening confirming whether or not the work party will happen on Saturday at 10:00am.

Thanks everyone, stay safe and warm, and please drive carefully these next few days there is still ice on the roads!
