For many young people, summer can be a season of possibility. It can also be a season when routines change, support systems shift, and opportunities become less accessible.

That's why mentors matter.

A trusted adult can help a young person feel seen, valued, and supported. Not because they have all the answers, but because they consistently show up.

Across the Leadership Foundations network, mentors, coaches, pastors, neighbors, artists, and community leaders are investing in young people every day.

Strong communities are built through relationships.

Research tells us that children thrive when they have access to quality education, safe environments, supportive relationships, and opportunities to grow.

Yet many families face barriers that make these resources difficult to access. In many U.S. cities, approximately 1 in 5 children lives below the poverty line, impacting access to education, healthcare, housing, and other opportunities that help young people flourish.

The good news is that communities can make a difference.

Across the Leadership Foundations network, local leaders are investing in neighborhoods, mentoring young people, creating safe spaces, and building partnerships that help children and families thrive.

Every child deserves the opportunity to dream, belong, and reach their full potential. 🩵

Summer has a way of bringing people together — onto playgrounds, at community pools, on basketball courts, and into community.

Across our network, local leaders are creating the kinds of spaces where kids and young people can belong, create friendships, and grow alongside one another, all while having fun.

With the summer months upon us, we look forward to all the stories this season will hold. 🩵

When creativity, collaboration, and leadership collide ✨

In New York, our friends at Thrive Collective are using art to purposely bring young leaders together and express themselves in unique and beautiful ways.

Recently, two of their fellows, Arianna and Yaya, spent a day diving into the creative process — developing concepts and designing their own murals from start to finish. Behind the scenes, Joshua and Edmond coordinated supplies and organized every detail to help make the experience seamless.

Alex Winn, who facilitated the day, hosted their team at Bittersweet, and thoughtfully helped arrange interviews during the visit, both at Thrive’s Hub and across the street at PS 34, where the RHYME and Mural Mentoring programs are currently taking place.

As Thrive Collective staff said, "Moments like these are deeply fulfilling and it’s so powerful to see how the Lord arranges every piece to come together with purpose. 🙌🏽"

Leadership takes many different shapes and forms, and we are so grateful for our partners for cultivating these different expressions and for the unique ways they're building into the next generation. 🩵

What if generosity wasn’t only about what we give but also how we show up?

In Memphis, Tennessee, My Town Miracles (MTM) is cultivating a culture of generosity rooted in presence, listening, and relationship.

Inspired by Acts 19:11, MTM believes God still works through ordinary people in ordinary moments. Whether through a donated item, a shared conversation, a meal delivered, a need noticed, or a family supported, these daily miracles are evidence of a willingness to be present and to notice what's happening in the lives of others.

And these daily miracles begin with a simple but profound invitation:
Do for one today what you would like to do for many.

Through practical care and intentional partnership, My Town Miracles is meeting youth and families exactly where they are, and reminding their community that generosity is something we practice together.

In March, leaders from across Latin America gathered in Colombia.

Some had known each other for years. Others were meeting for the first time.

Together, they spent time listening, learning, and sharing what leadership looks like in their communities, each impacted by different histories, but often facing similar challenges.

Moments like these remind us that real change doesn’t happen in isolation.

It grows through relationships, trust, and leaders who are willing to learn from one another.

This is how impact multiplies.

For many urban communities, gun violence, instability, and inequality often impact childhood in life-altering ways.

But we believe in a different story for our cities, one where the streets are filled with laughter and where children can play without fear.

"City streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there."

This is the vision: city as playgrounds.

From advocacy to service to new spaces for play, this is community in action đź’™

Across our network, people are showing up, building relationships, and creating opportunities for hope and healing:

• Hope Church Innerkip hosted a Car Clinic at Centro Nehemías—what began as service became a meaningful exchange of skills and connection.
• Lexington Leadership Foundation mentors packed meals for families across Central America experiencing food insecurity.
• CTM Kenya opened a new sports court in Old Kibra, giving youth a space to play, grow, and dream.
• Grant Me Justice with Jackson Leadership Foundation stood with survivors of violent crime at a statewide advocacy event in Mississippi.

Grateful for every partner and volunteer who makes this work possible. One story, one act of service, one day at a time 🌍✨

Love, laid down.
Love, raised to life.

—

Oh, gracious and loving God,

On this day, we remember what love is:
that Jesus laid down his life for us—
and calls us to do the same.

For our brothers and sisters,
for the neighbor and the stranger.

We remember:
that life overcomes death,
that good overcomes evil,
and that love rises above all.

We stand in the wonder of the Resurrection—
in the promise that what is broken
can be made new.

Renew our faith, Lord.
Make us instruments of Your love.

Amen.
