Brief History:
Tacoma Pride Festival was conceptualized as a multi-day, community sponsored and produced event in 2011 with the Rainbow Center operating as the lead organization for the festival. Prior to that, there had been and still is a one-day PRIDE celebration called ‘Out in the Park’, which has been in existence for well over 20 years. The Tacoma Pride Festival honors the LGBTQA population

of Pierce County by curating cultural events, establishing community partnerships, and hosting Out in the Park, a large-scale outdoor festival downtown to circulate resources and celebrate visibility.
