The evolution of computing, circa 2003. Lenovo, then IBM, introduced the ThinkPad line of portable computers for the professionals among us. In its earliest days, models in the line were manufactured with a composite carbon case. Many had keyboards that were perfect for touch typing. The T 42 shown here was the IBM's 2003-04 offering in mainstream notebooks. At 14 inches and under 5 pounds, the T 42 was every businessman's briefcase buddy. It also made the perfect showcase for Intel's burgeoning Centrino technology. However, this particular model uses a house-brand wireless module. Too bad it's pretty much stuck on Windows XP. To see more stories like this, come on down to the People's Center.

Occasionally, we get museum pieces like this 1999 tower computer. I'm curious to find out whether the unit still works, but naturally, I have to ask that such pieces not be sent in. As a general rule, if it's been stuffed in an office closet for more than seven years, it's probably not going to provide the greatest security for end users. That's why we need your help to ensure that schools, students, and low income families receive the best support and training possible. Why not make a donation today?

I keep getting asked whether we buy computers for our program. The short answer is: we don't. If you are feeling generous in what is a hot market for all things mobile, we want to hear from you! Call today!
