Welcome to our newest staff member, John Bangs!
John has over twenty-five years professional experience as a bass guitarist, acoustic guitarist, music director, and producer both in live performance and in the recording studio. He earned a degree emphasizing Music, Music Business, and Recording Technology at Shoreline Community College, and was privileged to attend the Musician’s Institute in Hollywood under the original faculty, which featured renowned bassists like Ray Brown, Jeff Berlin, and Bob Magnusson and guitarists like Pat Martino, Robben Ford, and Joe Diorio.
Early in his career, John was an in-demand studio bassist and a freelance “side-man” on the bass guitar, recording in Los Angeles and Seattle. John is skilled in a wide variety of musical styles—rock, jazz, funk, pop, R&B, blues & gospel.
In addition to the bass guitar at all levels, John teaches beginner and intermediate acoustic guitar, and can teach a chordal and theory-based approach for those who want to learn to improvise from chords on the piano keyboard.
If you are interested in studying with John, please contact us at [email protected]
