The Orchestral Recital Series of Tacoma, or ORS of Tacoma, began in 1991 under the guidance of Paul Twedt, the Music Director, and has served over 2,500 students since. He had a desire to see students of any age have the opportunity to perform with professional musicians. We provide music students of all levels and ages the opportunity to perform as a soloist with collaborative musicians. These pe
rformances are presented on a non-competitive basis so that all dedicated students can participate without the rigors of competition. Through the ORS program, all students have the opportunity of a lifetime to perform in two annual events:
- Fall Trio Festival: piano trio performances consisting of cello, violin, and piano
- Spring Concerto Festival: a solo performance with a live string ensemble, chamber or full symphonic orchestra
This is our 26th season and we are currently preparing for the Orchestral Recital Series in May 2018. We are an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. We retain a close relationship with Washington State Music Chapters in Tacoma, Puyallup, Gig Harbor, Seattle, and surrounding areas. We know that you are a fan and faithful supporter of the ORS and that you appreciate the many benefits this organization brings to our musical students and our community. We request your help to make ORS a success this year and in the future - you, your friends, and your family are encouraged to attend any of our recitals and concerts. We graciously welcome offers of financial or in-kind support as well, to ensure the ORS of Tacoma mission can thrive every year. Annual contributions are appreciated, along with any generous one-time donations, adding you to our growing list of truly inspirational supporters. Your name will be listed in our season programs as a financial donor. We additionally welcome gifts of volunteer hours. There are many jobs that need to occur for ORS to thrive. We do not have full-time staff as a small recital series, so we turn to you, our supporters, to ensure that we can continue to share our mission and bring musical collaboration to hundreds of wonderful students as they take center stage, whether it be for the first time or just one of many.
