It has been an unbelievable eleven years since Rachel’s life here with us came to an end on June 2, 2015. We miss her so much - the big things and the small things. Every single little moment of sharing life together.
As a family, we spent time and energy in the past few weeks consciously and purposefully working to preserve the legacy that our parents left to us in a shared family cabin lovingly known to us simply as “the beach”. It takes a lot of love and work to maintain this shared treasure, but the value is immeasurable. The beach was a haven for Rachel throughout her life as it is for all of us.
That work brings to mind the parallels with the vision that Rachel left for us in our family foundation. We work together purposefully and with love to carry forward her hope to bring joy, empathy and smiles to local young people living with cancer, along with their families and caregivers. It also helps to fill our hearts and souls, and we are so grateful for this gift. We will continue to work with love and intention to preserve this beautiful legacy that she left for us all.
It is our hope today that everyone will honor Rachel and others facing difficult times by living the days you are given with love, with purpose, and with a smile on your face and in your heart. Hold the ones you love a little closer and a little longer. Listen to one another with kindness, and with understanding. Be there for one another. Chase your dreams. Life can be unpredictable, so live every moment with love, with laughter, with peace, and with intention.
To all of you, we thank you for being by our side always, and for helping us to share Rachel’s love through the work that we have the honor to do in her name.
Thank you for helping us find our way, sweet girl. There are no words that can fully express how we miss you, and we will love you forever and always. ❤🐞
