Meet Cosmo, one of our most recent recipients! Cosmo is 10 years old and is described as "bright and curious... with a great sense of humor" by his family. He loves spending time with his family, science, Minecraft, card tricks, dirt bikes, roller skating, digging in the dirt, and climbing and his parents say that he has a pretty good Australian accent 😆! Going through treatment has resulted in missing out on childhood experiences and having lots of decisions made for him, so Cosmo knew that he would love to have a shopping spree at Walmart so that he could get whatever he wanted. Retail therapy was very important to Rachel and so we were very excited to fulfill his request! We were so happy to have a chance to meet Cosmo and his family at a recent Mary Bridge Children's Clinic appointment where we gave him a basket full of gift cards, some tasty snacks, a cozy blanket, and a cuddly buddy. Cosmo was in awe as he took everything in and his smile let us know that he was so happy. He had been thinking about various things that he wanted to get and was looking forward to shopping for toys, games, and even comfort items. We love knowing that he has something fun to do that will bring him so much joy and even a sense of independence! To top it all off, we had the great honor of being there on his last day of treatment, so we got to witness him ringing his end of treatment bell with his doctor! How awesome is that? Keep smiling, Cosmo! ❤️🐞

Twelve years later, and Rachel's words are still so true. And unfortunately, the numbers continue to be almost the same. Are you aware?

"When I was 14 years old I was 1 of the 1 to 3 in a million people diagnosed with synovial sarcoma, a disease that most often occurs in youth. In my 7 year cancer experience I've met countless people around my age and younger who instead of spending their time playing on playgrounds, hanging out with friends or playing sports spend their time behind sterile closed walls, strapped to an iv pole being pumped with poison in the hope of saving their young life. Every day 46 children are diagnosed and 7 children die of cancer. Maybe these numbers; 46, 7, 1 in a million, sound like incredibly small numbers, they did to me too before those small numbers became my entire life. I promise you, if a time comes where your child, little brother or sister, cousin, friend, or anyone you know gets a cancer diagnoses, you will wish more than anything that more than 3.8% of funding went to childhood cancers. You will wish that there are more treatment options, more research and studies, more awareness, you will wish that more people cared. You will wish that there is more hope. September is childhood cancer awareness month, are you aware? "

What better way to celebrate a stormy Friday than with cuddly buddies?! It's that time of year and we need the help of the kids in your life! Meet Luke, one of our recent recipients! Luke is a sweet 13 year old who loves spending time with his siblings (including his twin sister!), hiking, swimming, playing soccer, LEGO, and playing video games. Because of his cancer diagnosis, he has been more isolated and tired, so virtual gaming has become something that he really loves and looks forward to. Luke knew that he would love to have a KAT Walk C2 Plus Enhanced VR treadmill as his Hugs request, which would connect to his existing VR set and would allow him to walk and play games safely on the treadmill instead of moving carefully around the house while playing. We loved learning more about this product and after having the treadmill sent to his home, we were really excited to meet up with him and his mom to gift him a basket full of his favorite snacks and a cuddly buddy! Luke excitedly told us more about the treadmill and was looking forward to getting it set up. We have since learned that he has been having a great time and can even use it sitting down when he is feeling too tired for walking. We love knowing that he has something fun to keep playing with his friends and family, while also helping him stay active when he's stuck inside! Have so much fun, Luke! ❤️🐞
