Rachel Lynn Henley Foundation

Rachel Lynn Henley Foundation Our mission is bringing joy and support to young people, families, and caregivers impacted by childhood cancer.

One of Rachel's last wishes was to create an organization that would allow her to donate to various types of cancer research such as pediatrics and sarcomas, alongside of Relay for Life, and activities that ease the discomfort of cancer patients. In our lives, we have all been affected by cancer in some way, shape or form. Rachel always wanted a way in which she could use all that she had learned

in order to help those in similar circumstances. For this reason we have decided to create the foundation in her honor, and attempt to carry out her wishes as best we can. The Rachel Lynn Henley Foundation is an opportunity to contribute towards a cure as well as make our hearts happy knowing that we are doing something she wants and loves.

Need a smile? We had the honor and privilege of helping host the annual Mary Bridge Children's Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic's Water Blaster Party again this year and we had so much fun! Current and past patients and their families are able to come out for a fun summer evening at a local park to enjoy a BBQ dinner, ice cream floats, games, crafts, checking out a fire truck, "dunking" doctors and nurses, and topping it off with water blasting the Mary Bridge staff. We absolutely love seeing everyone enjoy a fun summer event where they can feel normal and not needing to focus on treatments, health, work, etc. and it means the world to us that we can be a part of such a special day! We hope that their smiles and joy warm your heart today. 💕

A huge thank you goes to Brank's BBQ & Catering for donating an incredible dinner for everyone, to Tacoma Fire Engine 9 for bringing their truck out for the kids to check out (plus fire hats, stickers, and bracelets!), to our amazing volunteers who helped make this day so much fun, and to all of you who are helping us to carry on Rachel's legacy!

Meet Trent, one of our recent recipients! Trent is 18 years old and enjoys gaming, watching movies, going on adventures with his sister, and spending time with his friends and family. His diagnosis resulted in him missing out on his last month as a senior in high school and all of the things that come along with that, which is so hard on top of everything else. Trent knew right away that he would love to ask for his dream gaming PC, that would allow him to stay connected with friends and have a fun distraction during treatment. We were so grateful to have the opportunity to meet up with Trent at a Mary Bridge Children's Hem/Onc Clinic visit where he was able to open up his brand new desktop computer, a fun light-up keyboard and mouse, and a curved monitor for the optimum playing experience! Trent was very excited to head home and set everything up and we love to think about the normalcy and joy that his Hug is continuing to bring him. Happy gaming, Trent!

Special Days For Madigan And Mary Bridge Patients They say that laughter is the best medicine, but we know how difficult it must be to laugh when a family and child are living with a pediatric cancer diagnosis. Meet Matthew, one of our recent recipients! Matthew is 12 years old and loves the color green, ranch flavored veggie straws, spending time with his family, listening to music (especially SOPHIE, NewJeans, and Charli XCX), watching Steven Universe, drawing, gaming, and collecting and listening to vinyls. When things are stressful, he finds relaxation and joy in listening to music, so he knew that the perfect Hugs request would be gift cards to get a new, high-quality record player and more records to add to his collection, plus some gift cards to his favorite restaurants! We know how important feeling normal is, especially to pre-teens and teens, so we were very happy to fulfill this request. We had the privilege of meeting Matthew during an appointment at Madigan Army Medical Center and even though he was feeling shy, he had us cracking up at his jokes as he told the nurses that he would now get his veggies by eating the veggie straws and that he was allergic to exercise and going outside. 😂 Matthew didn't feel comfortable sharing his picture online, but we can assure you that he was very excited to receive Amazon and VISA gift cards to get a record player and more vinyls, gift cards to Applebee's so he could enjoy appetizers and grilled cheese burritos with his family, a cozy blanket, snacks, and even a cuddly buddy! We love thinking about all of the fun that he has had shopping and know that it is bringing him lots of joy and a nice distraction during tough times. Have fun, Matthew! ❤️🐞
