Tacoma Tool Library Just like a regular library, but with tools instead of books. We provide access to 3900+ tools - everything from hammer drills to hand weeders. That’s it!

It's easy and low-cost to become a member! See our calendar for open hours and weekly programs. The Tacoma Tool Library provides low-cost access to shared tools and other durable goods and encourages re-use, repair, and reduced consumption. We empower local residents to care for their homes and neighborhoods, house by house and block by block. Want to borrow tools? It’s easy and low-cost to become a member. Members can borrow any of our 3900+ available tools—everything from hammer drills to hand weeders—for two weeks with no charge. Use the tools, clean them, and return them to the library when you’re done. Mission: The Tacoma Tool Library improves quality of life in the South Sound by providing tools, education, space, and support to cultivate self-sufficiency while reducing waste. Vision: Our work will lead to empowered individuals, increased involvement, reduced consumption, more entrepreneurship, better looking neighborhoods, a stronger sharing economy, and a more resilient community.

With your help, we want the Tool Library to be less reliant on one-time grant funding and more self-sustaining with member investments. To better reflect the true costs of running the Tool Library, we have increased the suggested member donation levels for new and renewing members.
Access remains a central pillar of our mission, and TTL will continue to ensure that no members are turned away if they cannot afford a standard membership donation. However, if you can afford to donate more, your donation will help us continue to provide that access to everyone in our community.
Visit our website to learn more about our new suggested donation levels for membership (link in bio).
